Flexible multi use: Evolution rail, Katsu, Makita
My first thought on this router track guide was ‘It’s a little expensive’. However, I have a shoddy Ruyika ‘Makita knock-off’ ½” router and it allows it to be attached perfectly to the track and rout deep, wide and accurate rebates and mouldings. The router base sits flush with the workpiece surface. Where the real add value came is with the smaller rods and attachment holes – these fit the plunge routing base for my Katsu trimming router perfectly, albeit one of the (two supplied) support slides needs to be attached to level it up and the base sits circa 2 mm above the work surface. This is no massive problem with a plunge base as the router bit tip can be zeroed on the work piece and the plunge stops used. Using the clamps on the router base and the outside rod end frame part of this guide has enabled me to make micro adjustments in the horizontal plane.. This has delivered extra functionality and accuracy to both these routers, speeded up my working and made repeatability so much easier.
