  • Silverline Tap & Die set.

Quite good however the aluminium die stock supplied with the set which is used to hold the dies was very poor quality and broke on first use so I had to buy a new steel die stock from ebay. However, all in all not too bad, just needs a stronger die stock as part of the set..

  • NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE

the level of quality of this tap and die set is shocking, why would anyone go to so much trouble manufacturing something of such poor quality, every die had burrs on the cutting threads rendering them useless, the taps are completely useless, i tried one tap to cut one hole in mild steel and was unable to cut even one clean thread before the tap rounded off and lost it's cutting thread, it simply isn't fit for purpose and should be discontinued

  • These taps/dies will likely damage the substrate material

Truly awful. The threads of the taps are full of hardened swarf, the taps are not of uniform thickness; the M8 tap I'm looking at here has a definite 'wave' along the profile. The flutes are not clean, not straight and not even equidistantly placed, leaving some looking weak enough to snap in situ. It's much the same story with the dies with hardened swarf hanging around the thread face cutting edges. If you are not very good with your eyes and you don't see some of these faults, you might well destroy the substrate you're trying to thread - and that can be an expensive mistake. STAY AWAY.

  • tap in die

very cheep and the rethreading bits loose there threads in side after a few times sharp edges on the threads as well

  • Completely unusable.

Everything about these taps and dies is incredibly flawed. Wrong angles make cutting impossible, grooves are apparently made with an angle grinder, material would be way too soft to hold an edge. These are utter garbage.
