A joy to build and looks good too.
The Metcalfe kit is quite easy to build with very little cutting required. The completed station looks very realistic and feels very solid with no flimsyness. Excellent.
Really impressed with the quality of the kit, went together easily and looks great. Getting the windows just right is a little tricky, but I soon got the hang of it. I’d read that people say the chimney pots are hard to make, but I found them really easy. I will certainly be buying other Metcalfe kits in the future. I’ve added LEDs to mine, which look great.

Excellent model station for 00 gauge layout.

Looks fantastic
This was my first Metcalfe model and I have to say I am very impressed. It probably took 4-5 hours in all to make, but I imagine you could do it much quicker if you have a cardboard model before. Easy to follow instructions. Very forgiving, made a couple of assembly errors, (clumsy with knife) and tried to be uber professional by painting over the card folds, this process is best left until more experience is gained in the techniques of assembling these kits. Full steam ahead.
This is an excellent model when built. I was sceptical of cardboard models, thinking that's exactly how they would look, but I am very pleased to say I was wrong. If anything they look superior to plastic, being already coloured and the brickwork to scale it gives an excellent finish. All that is needed is a little weathering to take off the "just built new building" look. Anyone in two minds can be assured they will have a first class addition to their layout. Superb detail, a quality product
I have tried a few kits that are available. Most of them are a right pain in the arse. With others you have to cut out the A4 printed sheets then stick them on 300gsm card or higher and then cut it all out again which is tricky and fiddly. The Metcalfe kits are ready prepared, are far superior quality, have better instructions and best of all (for me) are made in Yorkshire where all the best stuff is made.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
