For the full EP-3 experience, put that secret sauce on your dry signal by running the EP101 in front of the EP103. The EP103 can be set for 100% wet mode along with stereo input and output modes. Where the sound of this pedal really shines, though, is in Age mode.

  • Dunlop MXR EP103 Echoplex Delay Pedal EP-3

I have performed for 50 years as a singer, guitarist and sound engineer. I have owned EP Echoplexes, Roland Space echoes, Univox tape echos, Binson and old Fender Oil can echo units, Butler Stereo Digital delays, and many other analog and digital types of delay units and still do. Many have specific uses and applications - all that I've owned, I know well. The Dunlop EP103 Echoplex Delay Pedal pretty much nails the old EP-03 sounds without the hassle of running tape nor the associated noise levels that develop over the years from older 'nutz & gutz'. The 4 second delay - Tap Tempo and EP 103 "Aged Tape" option settings are all very nice. It does a very good job replicating the aged tape sounds. If you are an absoulte purist, buy an old and probably beat EP unit, but be sure you'll have many maintenance hassles that are part and parcle to that beast. If you want a great way to reproduce most all the sounds and textures the old EP units produced, in a hassle-free, very small footprint unit that is very mobile (pedalboard) - this is your device! BONUS: you won't be paying the ridiculous prices of a vintage machine, either. Worth it? You'll need to judge for yourself. Having owned 'em all at one time or another, this is an exceptional addition to my sonic arsenal. I don't gig without it. Wish I had it in the 60's ... Yes, I remember the 60's and I WAS there! LOL!

  • Awesome! Buy one!

Awesome!!!!! But better together with the Exchoplex Preamp EP-101. Simple to use, good features, sounds great with my setup (listed below... for science). FYI, I also own a real and functional Echoplex, and a Catalinbread Belle Epoch, so I have some great reference points. Yes, there's some sonic differences between all the equipment I mentioned above, but remember! These pedals are trying to emulate the real deal... And it's never easy to replicate in digital format the nuances of vintage electric equipment. Even the Belle Epoch Deluxe (which I had and sold) didn't get there 100%. Why? The dude from Belle Epoch said on his youtube channel that the built-in preamp section is not the same as the one in the Echoplex. How does the Exchoplex Delay sound? Like I said, love it! It's what I have on my home (not gigging) VH-style pedalboard and it's very, very close to the early Van Halen sound (remember that his tone, while not solely dependent on the Exchoplex, it was greatly influenced by it). What's on my home VH pedalboard? - Pedal board power: MXR ISO Brick . MXR 10-band EQ . TC Electronic Thunderstorm Flanger . MXR 100 Phaser . Echoplex Preamp . ECHOPLEX DELAY . TC Electronic Corona Chorus (Divers Down and later sound) . Wampler Pinnacle Distortion . Mooer Pitch Box (OU812 and later sound) . TC Electronic Hall of fame Reverb . TC Electronic Wiretap

  • Superb tape delay tones!

Having owned dozens of different delays over the years, I am more than thrilled with the MXR Echoplex! It is capable of crystal clear, pristine delay as well as rich, modulated, “aged tape” tones and everything in between. One of the best things about it is the simplicity of the controls. I’ve owned really great delays that had tons of knobs, switches, buttons and gizmos but I found that I spent more time fiddling with controls than I did enjoying playing. The Echoplex is super simple to set, easy to adjust and the core tone is just superb. The audio quality is as good as any delay I’ve ever owned. I’d highly recommend this pedal for anyone in the market for a top end delay!

  • Van Halen sound

I was always wondering about what sounds like a second strum on the a minor on ain’t talkin bout love and it turns out the echoplex is set at one repeat in anything off of Van Halen 1 that he’s using the delay (not sure about other albums) but it definitely makes the song more enjoyable to play knowing it sounds just a tiny bit closer to the record. It’s also a great pedal to kick on during a solo it sounds cool that way too. If you’re going for a classic rock delay sound I’d highly recommend this pedal

  • Classic Sound

If you're looking for the classic sound of Floyd, Zeppelin, etc. then this is the pedal for you. It is exactly the pedal for you. If you're expecting a "biggly" array of options and sounds, look elsewhere - this is a one-trick pony (although it does that trick really well. The Tap pedal is sold separately and if you are doing more than just playing in your room for yourself, you might as well get that, too. I didn't, and I imagine it would be impossible to play in a band with this pedal, unless the drummer wants you to set the tempo, and you're okay with bending over and screwing around with it until you get it. For the price they could have included that, too. Excellent equipment, great packaging, very sturdy.

  • excellent product

It has all the retro features of the old tape models. Old echoplex models are very expensive and this is in a pedal form easy to use.

  • Fantastic delay pedal.

A versatile delay that covers slap to space, sounds lovely and is truly inspiring. Tap tempo integration adds much ease and versatility to this amazing pedal. Dunlop knocked this out of the park. 👍

  • $$

sounds good for old VH but its a dam shame you have to buy a frkn pre amp 100$ pedal to get more out of this pedal , like VH,s cathederal. good but a f34kin waste of money to have to buy 2 pedals for 1 effect!
