budget beginner pastels
Great introduction set to oil pastels. I have already started to wear mine out after a week! The price point is ridiculously good and color selection is perfect for anyone starting out. Formula is on the harder side and not super creamy and lipsticky like artist quality brands though and I've noticed with layering and blending it's best to layer with the pastels themselves and use stippling/scrumbling techniques more than a blender or your finger. It's also harder to work with colours opposite each other compared to pricier brands too. But these combined with a good toothy paper, 3 colour rule and aforementioned techniques make these an excellent budget and beginner friendly choice for oil pastels and help you learn the medium all the same. They do have a smell though like petrol, so for people sensitive to smells that may cause an issue. But leaving out to air for a day or two seems to help. Overall would recommend for anyone looking to get into oil pastels or just wants to play around.
