    Orange Micro Terror review -

Big tube amp from small package. The tube driven preamp gives that warm full tube tone at the price and scale of a compact solid state amplifier. The gain seems to function best up to 12:00 high. After that, you get too much unwanted distortion. When played with very little gain, this amp gives a bright "chimey" tele sound. I noticed a little ac hum when turning up the treble. My guitar has a split coil switch on the humbucking pickups and the ac hum is more pronounced when in single coil mode. I was able to get rid of that completely by using a Pyle PHE400 Hum / Noise Eliminator. I purchased this 8 ohm version to replace a bad amplifier in a very old Peavy guitar amplifier cabinet. I simply wired the speaker to a bulkhead plate mounted 1/4" phone jack, converting the amp to a passive speaker cabinet. For the mounting plate, do a search on this site for BLACK METAL SINGLE 1/4" SPEAKER CABINET JACK PLATE 2" OUTSIDE DIA. This combination produces enough volume for our church band in about a 2000 sq ft sanctuary. It's also perfect for an in-home practice amp. These are made in 4 ohm and 8 ohm versions, so make sure your speaker and amplifier are matched in impedance. Great value for the price!

    Not my cup of Joe..........

I play a Rockerverb onstage and figured hey I'll grab a micro Terror for the studio when I'm working on demoes and practicing. Everyone raves about how it does the Rockerverb thing so hey why not? Don't bother. At best it's a little practice amp but I honestly like my Hotone Heart Attack better. This terror is kind of scratchy and just a little league sound. I love Orange amps but this one pales in comparison to the classics. I guess you get what you pay for but I expected more than this.

  • Big thing, Micro package...

I bought this to replace an Orange Crush 12 that blew up on me which I Loved. I had just bought a 4x12 B52 cab and a little fender amp with an external speaker out to run through it but wanted another head anyway. Since my practice amp blew I figured this would hit two birds with one stone. I'm blown away at how smooth this amp sounds and can get gritty too. It gets plenty of volume if needed for live shows. I'll probably get a 1x10 or 12 cab for home use and small venues. These Micro Terrors are really great. For the price you can get these there's really no reason not to have one. Can't miss with one of these in your bag. Kinda a Swiss Army knife in amplifiers.

  • Simply Amazing! Every guitar player that gigs or plays with others often should have one.

Amazing! This thing is can get LOUD! Great gain with genuine pre-amp tube circuitry. I really like the simplicity of this amp. One thing I wish is had is a standby switch. However this amp is an adjunct to my other amps so it's not a huge deal. Being a single tube pre-amp stage amp allows for endless experimentation with various tubes. Vintage tubes, new tubes, slightly lower rated tubes i.e. 12 AU7. This ability to easily swap tubes makes this amp even more versatile & enjoyable. Every guitar player that gigs or plays with others often should have one. These are great as backups. However they van be used as is on small gigs or if mic'd through a PA.

  • Big sound little price!

Big sound little price! I play with a local punk band and was tired of lugging my big Orange head to practices. So heavy and so cumbersome. I thought I'd just give the Orange Micro Terror a go. I figure It wouldn't stay up with the drums... boy was I wrong! This this hung with the band at just the first notch... I pushed it to break up and the rest of the band said turn it down. I laughed and laughed. I love this little Micro Terror. Pushes a 4x12 with no problem. I may even use it to gig.

  • Simple little amp with a huge sound

If you've read previous reviews you already know that this amp is loud. It is! Maybe too loud for a bedroom setting. I use it with a 1x12 cab and I almost have to turn the volume off once I've cranked up the gain in order to not wake up the family. It has plenty of bedroom level dirt and volume but you have to play with both knobs to get it there. The Tone control seems fairly sensitive and only minor adjustments make a difference. It has a nice clean tone and you can expect a more vintage vibe to the gain. I have this and the Micro Dark, I think I like the Micro Dark better and believe or not it's the clean tone that sets them apart, along with an abundance of gain.

Tiny size and mnsterous tone! Can go from clean, to mean ( distorted) with just a minor adjustment. It has great tonal characteristics as well.! Gain is very responsive.

  • Maniac Micro Terror

It sounds amazing! Very light weight but yet has a great deal of power for such a little dinky amp. I absolutely love it! Great buy!

  • micro terrific... wonderful little amp with a great pedal.

I build a 3 band and 5 band EQ distortion pedals that compliments this wonderful little amp, sound amazing. " metalpedals " hardcore or blue crunch pedal... really make this amp shine. I run two micro heads with two 1x12 cubes, stereo delay and a hardcore pedal and I can get any sound under the sun... tight and amazing....

  • Orange, micro terror

I thought that this would be a Very cool little amp and, everyone I know has to play it. It won't replace my br6f but, lots of fun for a little money, at 100 dollars it is the coolest musical item that I have ever bought.
