Miniature point motor
Small, compact, a bit fiddly but if fitted with care, work well. The solenoid inside is very small and can easily be restricted in movement if not carefully positioned aligned with the point/turnout tie bar. If screwed down too hard to the base board this can also restrict movement. Follow Horny's instructions and you'll be OK.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

OK ish. NEAT AND COMPACT BUT A BIT FLIMSY.
It's OK; It's neither good or bad, neither good or bad value and of slightly flimsy quality. There are only 3 wires, one common (black), so one cannot wire a basic capacitor discharge unit such as those I made. Hornby expect you to use their tacky passing contact switches. The unit can be opened up and rewired, i've found, but it's a tricky job and needs delicacy.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good but has drawbacks
This is a good basic point motor with little hassle to fit to your layout, my only criticism is that it will really only fit on Hornby points, if using Bachman or Peco points the small lever will not fit onto the tie bar, so either you have to change the point (expensive) or fit a Peco point motor, (nearly as expensive).Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good value for quality product
I have purchased a number of these over the past 12 months and had a problem with only one which seemed to stick so was in danger of burning out. otherwise seem pretty reliable but require careful operation of the throw switch. Easy to install and strong action if used with a CDU

when fitted is not unsitley, can be a bit fiddley to connect and care must be taken to ensure all wires are making contact. Perhaps the price is a bit on the high side when you consider you need switches, plus a cdu and a transformer to give you a voltage (suggest 24v) than that provide by the 15v auxillary feed on the controller, as each point is operated, the controller resets itself.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
