Very, very good
After I'd ordered it I read some online reviews that were a bit negative and so I started to worry a little. But when it arrived it was absolutely fantastic. No problems with it at all. Very easy to use and sounds incredible. Also it's over half the price of some similar models from other companies, so even though it's over £200, it's still a very good buy. The only slight criticism I have is that I had to search hard for an attachment plate to connect it to my drum kit. I eventually got one for around £10, but at that price, I don't understand why Alesis don't just include it with the whole package in the first place? Why sell it separately and make it hard to get hold of? I'd guess that over 90% of their customers are going to want to add the samplepad po to their drum kits anyway, so why not include the attachment piece with it?

Good value and easy to set up.
Not as fiddly to edit as some imply but does need work to balance out the drum levels for each kit. Works well with the unsupplied Alesis kick pedal but, as with all electronic percussion, the nuances of a real hi hat can be exactly replicated. I think the mount should be supplied as standard - it's a cheap bit of plastic costing almost nothing to make but at least 12 quid to buy. Not as versatile as a Handsonic but easier to play and much cheaper.

Amazing
What can I say?? This is an amazing piece of kit. This along with my vast library of samples it really is a valuable edition to my home studio. Not only is it fantastic as a stand alone drum machine, the alesis sample pad pro really does come alive with the ability to place samples to the individual pads. A fantastic machine and worth every penny.
