Summary first, The Radiation Gas Tubes work well. The overly sterile yet filled face is beautiful, yet extremely functional. The Hands are near as good looking and functional as Seiko Samurai Sword ones. The Long Lug to Lug is not as bad as the pictures. Lovely on a darker leather .NATO The Radiation Tubes must not be too old on my watch received as they glow well in dim/dark. unfortunately the designed (who by the way own Luminox) decided to have extremely symmetrical gas tubes, a stupid oversight as in the dark when off the wrist you must feel which way the watch is. Would a colour change on the top dot or longer/shorter tube have broke the bank? it wears like a 40mm, not painful on the wrist, but I changed the incredibly poor build quality strap for a mix of different NATO and fabric ones, the factory strap un-glued itself at the sides - when I did my usual 'strap rolled round tighter than the wrist and fixed with elastic band in cup of boiling water' then cooled with icy cold water. This usually gets rid of the annoying rigid strap that lifts the case off your wrist. Straps of differing costs have been reshaped this way with no ill effect. The Crown is well made and feels as it should, my evo is the Quartz NV without Day/Date and did everything it should.

  • Good Watch, But Only at the Right Price

Overall this is a nice looking, understated watch. The illumination, which, admittedly, was one of the primary reasons that I bought this, is fantastic and manages to live up to every expectation that I had. I very much appreciate the aforementioned understated aesthetics of this watch, and I think that the red, signed crown is a nice touch. That being said, there are a few things about this watch that left me feeling less than impressed--much of which, I will admit, comes down to personal taste. First and foremost, the strap that this watch comes with is far from stellar. I found it to be stiff, uncomfortable, and generally cheap feeling. Suspecting that this may be the case, I went ahead and ordered a replacement strap at the time of purchase. Additionally, this watch, in my opinion, lacks the heft of some of my other nicer quartz watches from brands like Citizen. Personally, I've grown accustomed to a certain weight on my wrist, and this is significantly less than what I have come to prefer. In addition to my complaints, I will note that this watch wears a bit smaller than I had expected. I read several reviews before purchasing, and there seemed to be conflicting opinions as to weather this appeared large or small on the wrist. Personally, I think it looks a bit small. That being said, I have rather large wrists, so it's not hard for a watch to look small on me. In summation, I'm very pleased with my purchase, but, at the end of the day, you're getting a Timex quality quartz watch. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just that I, personally, wouldn't spend more than $50-$60 on this watch. At that price point, however, you're getting a stylish watch that can easily be dressed up or down.

  • So good I bought it twice!

I've had a fondness for the design of the Swiss Railroad clock faces ever since my first trip to Switzerland back in the 1980s. After that trip I found a Mondaine watch that had that same design and wore it pretty regularly through a few decades. After the latest battery change, I've become dismayed that it occasionally gets stuck, resulting in poor accuracy. So it was time to get a new one. Most Mondaine watches sell now for a few hundred dollars - out of the question for this retiree. But Timeshop had this one listed for just a little over $100, and this one was black-faced, a nice change. I ordered one last December and was thrilled with the styling and accuracy. The "night-vision" was an unexpected plus as I can now see the time in the dark without lighting up my phone. Alas, the battery crapped out on the new watch just a few months in. Not wanting to pay to have it replaced, I attempted it myself. I managed to get the back off and a new battery in, but was unable to clamp the back on again. In my attempts, the crystal shattered into a million pieces, bent the hands, and rendered my new watch useless. So it went in the trash. After a month or so without it, I realized that I really wanted another, and Timeshop still had the same deal going on, so I bit the bullet and ordered another. It arrived, I'm thrilled again and enjoy the watch a lot. When THIS battery runs down, however, I'll be taking it to a professional.

  • Nice watch.

I have a bit of a thing about watches, but did not own a Mondaine. Well I do now! It was shipped fairly quickly and all taxes were paid up front, so no nasty surprises. It is elegant and has kept accurate time so far. The Tritium illumination is not as bright as other Tritium watches that I own, but is perfectly adequate and should keep glowing away for many years. Whats not to like really?

  • Swiss RR watch

This is a classically designed watch which creates a feel of European nostalgia when I wear it. It is a basic very reliable modern version of this model and a great everyday timekeeper.
