Their value is in their reusability... but they do eventually break down and deform after multiple uses.
Not like there is any other purchase option out there to compare it to, lol. But yeah, they are good for what they are advertised for. They would be ridiculously expensive if you could only shoot them once, but I have discovered they are reloadable using hole-punched egg carton material as a wad for the top and bottom. Cutting open a single cheap walmart 12 gauge shell yields enough shot to make dozens. These come loaded from the factory with #9 shot, but I have experimented with using #8 and #7.5 shot in them in various quantities. Anything larger than that is too few balls and too irregular a pattern. I did try putting 3 steel BB's in once and got an impressive perfect triangle-shaped pattern. It's like micro buckshot :-). All around results are good and fun to experiment with. I use an empty 22lr shell case as a reference for consistent volume of my reloads. #7.5 shot reloaded in these shells will easily break a regulation clay target at 25-30 feet, albeit precision aiming is necessary.
