Cool and Quiet
I ordered this to put on my GTX 1070. While the stock cooler worked, it was loud under load, and when idle, the fans would cycle on and off which made a really annoying sound.
Installing this cooler wasn't hard at all. For me, removing the stock cooler was pretty easy. I undid seven Phillips screws and gently pried the cooler off with a plastic knife. This cooler comes with an assortment of small aluminum heatsinks and some thermal glue. I attached most of the small heatsinks to the memory chips, VRMs, and MOSFETs and let the glue cure for about an hour. Then I attached the small plastic spacers to the cooler and mounted it on my card using the included screws.
With the stock cooler, my GPU would idle around 50C and would get into the low-to-mid 70s under full load while making quite a bit of noise. With this new cooler, my GPU idles in the 30s to 40s and gets into the high 50s to low 60s under load. This is with +100MHz on the core and +250MHz on the VRAM. With the fans turned all the way up (about 2000RPM), it is audible, but nowhere near as loud and whiny as the fans on the stock cooler. With my GPUs stock fan profile, this cooler is inaudible over the other fans in my system and the GPU's coil whine.
If you have a GPU that is running loud, hot, or both, I'd suggest looking into getting an aftermarket cooler like this one. Just be aware that this is a heavy cooler, so getting a support bracket might be a good idea.
