    Siverline She t Metal Nibbler

A good product for basic sheet metalwork provided the thickness of material is less than 2mm and the material is not hard. Relatively easy to use and gives a good clean cut. Offcut tends to curl and get stuck in the space between the handles so you just have to keep guiding it out. Otherwise good value for money.

  • Most critical review

Wouldnt bother if I were you.

I needed a blade for my existing cutter but it was only a few pounds more to buy the full tool, so I did. When it arrived the cutting jaws were spaced too wide apart in relation to the blade and so could not shear the material, instead it just bent it and jammed the job in the mouth of the tool and left big rags on the material. I took the blade out and fitted it to my old device and binned the Silverline item.

  • They Worked for Me

Not expecting much from these but they did what I wanted them to do, are they light weight? well they are not heavy, Durable? I only used them for one job which was cutting 1mm sheet steel I have no idea how many sheets of steel I would need to cut to wear them out, if your going to be cutting sheet for a living maybe not but I have some very cheap tools that have lasted years and I can not see why these would be any different. Well Designed? again not many ways you can design a set of sheet cutters, but from the old cutters I lost these are much better as my old ones did not have grips on the handles which make these more comfortable to use. One thing, you might have to set up the side plates a bit better as mine where a bit out of line, just a case of adjusting them using the side screws.

  • Good Value for money

A sturdy tool that does a good job cutting through quite heavy gauge metal. However, the locking mechanism that is supposed to keep the handles together when not in use is next to useless. I use a couple of turns of tying wire. Expect to experience aching hands if more than 6 or seven inches of metal to cut through - but this would happen with any other similar cutter. I also used it to cut through corrugated PVC sheet with great effect - no splitting/snapping of the PVC.

  • Great for DIY projects

These are perfect for my purposes which are occasional DIY projects. They have a powerful cutting action, but do tend to slide back as you start cutting, although they may grip better on harder metals. They are ideal for home use as they are easily controllable giving accurate non-distorted cuts; there is some wastage but this is acceptable for me.

  • Solid and useful.... just one hiccup

I used to work in hand tools so tend to spot rubbish quickly. This is good, very good by present day standards but there's one niggle : the funny little jaw lock. I'm not the first to notice this oddity. Frankly, as it is, it seems pointless.

  • allows precosion cuts with ease

Only use occasionally but far better edge obtained than with two blade snippers. Although you have to allow for the small wastage from the cutting middle blade if using precious metals.

  • Great Value

Works just the same as the previous one i bought no different in cutting ability, for nearly £60.00, great value tool.

  • great piece of kit

used this for cutting out the top of an old petrol tank - so fairly thick stuff - to transplant onto a newly made tank. Didn't want to spend a lot on a powered cutter for just one job but this did the work just fine and I intend to use it for some other panels I'm fixing. Worked quite quickly and easily

  • Very useful bit of kit!

Wanted a better way of cutting out holes for switches in project box face plates. Quick simple and neat job. Won’t use it that often but when needed will save loads of time!
