A really effective pest control product.
This works very well. I actually made my own holder from a sheet of plastic shaped into a tent shape (with base). This insert slides inside and you can place the pheremone plastic pod on top of the sticky substance using blunt scissors or better, some long tweezers, There are two in the pack as the pest control works best by replacing the insert after some weeks as per the instructions. I have bought this product for three years running (you have to replace the product every growing season) and it really has reduced the severe damage that codling moths were causing in my apple tree. It is pretty simple to use, though the substance is very sticky so you have to be careful when cutting the edges of each sheet to open out the sheet to use and disgard the edges carefully. Codling Moth beware!!
These traps are very good indeed, set them up as per the instructions and they work well. Last year we used one and changed the capsule and sticky pad every four weeks through the spring and summer. Result, not one apple had a maggot, this year one or two apples have sign of entry but overall we are well pleased, it was probably our fault really as we may have put the traps out a bit late. In addition they give a good indication of moth activity near your fruit trees over night by the count of dead moths in the morning. If there is one thing worse than biting into an apple or a pear and seeing a maggot, is to bite into one and find half a maggot!
