Great Replacement for Baby Grand
I had a Mason Hamlin baby grand for 30 years that was a marvelous piano. When I downsized out of a house into an apartment, I no longer had the space, and had to sell it. I just purchased the Roland RD-2000 and am very happy with it.
It has the same keyboard feel as the MH, and the sound quality is excellent. I am an intermediate player, but I know that my playing will advance at a much greater pace on this instrument because I can practice more diligently without worrying about bothering anyone. One of the biggest obstacles I have had to playing is feeling pressure that practicing scales, arpeggios, and hacking through complicated passages repeatedly was annoying my wife and daughter.
I have not worked through the digital features to experiment with tone differences yet, because the stock Stage Grand tonality is fully satisfying for practice sessions to restore my fingers from several years of not playing because I did not have an inspiring instrument. I have a Roland PCR-800 midi controller that I have been making do with, but it just did not energize me because of the limited keyboard and un-piano feel of the keyboard.
Now I have quality playability and sound resonance and am elated with the choice.
