Best shrub shears
These shears are ultra-light and EXTREMELY sharp. I like to use a short hold (ie hold close to the blade cross-over). These are light enough to allow for a short grip. The handles are long for easy reach of hard to get branches. I will use my other brand for clipping grass that is in the dirt.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

The be-all and end-all of hedge shears
Straight out of the box, these ARS HS-KR1000s will slice paper like the best quality scissors. Just stupid sharp. And they stay that way. I've got probably 8-10 hours of nothing but reining in and shaping an out of control row of 16 head high boxwoods. Mind you, I wouldn't use these on much over 1/4 to 3/8" diameter brush but they breeze through the rougher stuff no problem and maintain that razo sharpness for the more delicate cuts. Though I dont have the talent myself, I imagine these would also be perfect for topiary sculpting. They also seem more immune to picking up sap/dirt than my ARS pruner blades. I've only needed a quick wipe down with rubbing alcohol and a light spray of WD-40 before putting them away for the night. Do you need to spend $80-$120 on a set of hedge shears? Probably not but, if you enjoy the craftsmanship and performance of a superbly made tool, you kind of owe it to yourself to experience these.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Excellent shears! Sharp!
Finally, something that will actually cut grasses!!! I've actually found that regular scissors work better than normal shears for tripping garden grasses but these shears are really good! I have a pair ARS pruners that are the best I've ever had - expensive but so worth it rather than going through a few $10 pruners - so decided to try ARS shears and the quality is the best! Extra sharp blades that keep their edge and stay sharp

Pro hedge shears
The 1st thing you notice is how light they are, that comes at a cost...literally. They are not cheap. However they cut amazingly well and are a joy to use. My only beef is that to insure the lightness of the product the red handle inserts seem to be made of plastic and give it a "cheaper" feel than I was expecting for the price.
