    SERIOUS cookware!!

This is a Made in USA item, TOP quality in every way! HEAVY cast iron for even heating, pre-seasoned for non-stick. This is a future family heirloom! I've just begun to learn Asian cooking, and this wok makes it easy for this newbie to get rave reviews. Holds a large amount of food, cooks quickly and evenly, clean-up is super simple, fill with plain hot water, swipe it with a stainless steel or brass bristle brush (like for cleaning a grill, also available in hardware store paint departments). Rinse, place in 400 degree oven to dry, then wipe with a small amount of light veg. oil, like canola or peanut. Please note- the inner surface is SUPPOSED to be textured to do the job, not smooth like a skillet. This is why the need for a metal bristle brush, rather than a copper scour pad. Important! Lodge doesn't make these year-round. If they are on one of their several months long production breaks, prices will skyrocket! Look / wait for the $50 to $60 price range. Enjoy!

    Still working it out

Despite of being heavy and extra steps for cleaning that are well informed of beforehand, the wok is still quite sticky to food even though it claims itself already seasoned. May need more seasoning to see the actual performance of this product.

  • Love my cast iron wok

The first time I used my new cast iron wok there was some sticking of the food, but since then it has become increasingly non-stick. The bottom surface heats up quickly (I have electric burners) and I don't have to use very high heat to cook. After the first time cooking with it, it's become very easy to clean up. I just towel dry it and add a little oil to the surface to preserve it's cooking surface. I'm very pleased with my purchase, this wok is an excellent value for the money. It will be around for many, many years to come after all the "light weight" "non-stick surface" woks are gone.

  • Best Wok for stovetops

This is a Cantonese style wok that doesn’t shift around while cooking. The weight and size are perfect for cooking larger meals. The cast iron is great for heating the food evenly. If you don’t have pilot lights and all that for a handheld wok this is perfect for a stove top.

  • Lodge wok

My family loves the meals we have fixed in our wok. I was a little worried about how it would work on stove top but it has worked wonderful. Also I was worried about the weight as it's cast iron, while it's heavy it's not near as heavy as I thought it would be.

  • Versatile addition of cast iron cookware

Versatile, useful piece of cookware made by my favorite cast iron friends at Lodge. Hold a much better well-distributed heat than the old electric piece I used with its hot ring in the bottom! Will last longer than a lifetime-bound to become a favorite piece!!!

  • Practice makes perfect

I've been using this wok for a week now and learning as I go. Went online for recipes & sauces. I start with rice in my microwave. I prepare beef & pork to start adding precooked chicken sausage, seasoned chicken & shrimp. After removing meats I add frozen vegetables plus some mushrooms & diced pineapple. When done add veges to same bowl as meats. Then add cooked rice to wok dropping temp to around 300 degrees. After a minute add all meats & veges to the rice in wok. I use to add my sauce at this point but some of it would cling to the wok & turn black making it difficult to clean. I now add sauce after removing ingredients from wok. The recipes say to cook with a 1/4 cup to a1/2 cup of sauce ... I use just enough to make it moist.. sauces can get expensive. Everyday I'm getting better at this and can count on this wok to perform beautifully.

  • Lodge Cast Iron Wok

I have used a cheaper steel Wok for years and been very happy with it. However, I love my Lodge cast iron cookware so I decided to purchase this and give it a try. Now I could never go back! This is exactly what a Wok should be. I don't have to chase it all around the stove while using it, and since I have a glass cook top it is very important to not have a lot of movement so as to keep from scratching the counter top. I do hold it with my hand I am not using to stir with but it is very manageable and does not try to move around. Even on first use I had no problem with sticking, good seasoning practice is a help in this area. My only regret is that I didn't buy one years ago!
