Curate's egg
This saw needed a LOT of serious fettling to get it to work with any degree of accuracy. The cross-cut carriage mounting brackets could not be set anywhere near the required position and needed the mounting holes filing into slots in order to achieve a sliding table that was level with the main table. The 305mm blade had some damaged teeth: I haven't used this blade yet, but have used one I already had.
Changing the blade was difficult as the fixing bolt seemed to be cross-threaded. However, this proved not to be the case; the problem was swarf fouling the threads and things improved once this had been cleaned out of the threaded arbour.
The extension tables were very poor, flimsy and bent. I ditched these and made my own.
Although you can tilt the saw to 45 degrees there is no controlled adjustment. You just slacked two nuts, shove it to the right setting [good luck, it will take ages to get it correct] and tighten the nuts, which will then move the setting a fraction............so you have to have another [and another, and another] go.
The NVR switch didn't come with a plug. This is a serious omission because it is not UK standard and I was unable to source a plug to fit, other than the one I already had on my band saw. I now use one power lead for both machine but if you don't have a plug...........you might struggle to ever switch the saw on!!
On the positive side it has plenty of power, though I haven't used it for ripping at its capacity so take this comment with reservation. The extraction system is effective; not much dust escapes. The wheels/handles make moving about easy, useful in a small workshop.
The fence is surprisingly accurate once you have trued the blade to it [NO instructions for this essential operation though, you have to work it out for yourself].
The motor is quite for a big saw, but of course different blades will produce different sound levels. I've not spun the supplied cheap and nasty blade yet.
Up/down adjustment is via a wheel, easy to use but no locking mechanism.
Overall, a good enough saw IF you have the skill, patience and experience to sort it out.
