beeman p1 and marksman repeater had a baby
i actually met bob beeman back when he had the santa rosa store he had a taste for quality and i am not sure if he would find this acceptable. pros accurate powerful great trigger great sights automatic safety cons hard to cock tricky to load pellet uncomfortable grip with little texture i find it has the power and accuracy of beeman quality but little things bug me about it like the design just seems wrong its like it is taking cues from a hi-point the finger grooves are wrong maybe its my hand but i have a large middle finger and a small pinkie but on this there is a tiny area for your middle finger and a large area for your pinkie. i like that is has a optic mount but it is sharp and the force required to cock it could cause someone with weak palm skin some pain and small abrasions. i like the fiber optic sights and how the rear is able to adjust for elevation and windage but the elevation pin keeps walking out similar to my ruger mk2. to get the power this has does take a bit of force to close and it is a bit tricky to place a pellet in the barrel this is not rapid fire also i have caught my shirt as i have closed it many times. you must open it all the way to the stop for it to breath in i had it a couple times bounce almost closed because of the vacuum of the piston use of the optic provided was useless as i need the whole of the top of the slide to close it under the piston pressureVerified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Not practical and difficult to load.
Although I can appreciate the quality, the engineering and design/appearance of this product, I could not recommend it. It is not easy to load, too much time and effort required in the process of getting a second shot off, especially quickly. Just my opinion... maybe some people don't mind all the effort it takes to reload with the pumping and fitting the pellet into the inconveniently placed barrel. Do that 10 times rapidly and you're pretty tired of it. Otherwise, the product is well built and probably worth the price for how well its made, the materials and tooling. Other guns are just easier, as far as the function goes, if you want to shoot repeatedly for any length of time.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great Air Pistol....poor Red Dot Sight
Pro: Love the gun and it has great accuracy. As noted in other reviews it is hard to load a pellet in the chamber and it's hard to close afterwards. That aside...it is relatively quiet and you do get good accuracy. Con: Red dot sight adjustments are flimsy and won't hold. Had to tape the up/down adjustment. They just twirl and won't stay in-place. Also, need to remove the sight to change the battery. Means re-sighting after you put it back. NOT GOOD!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Mfg flaws
Nice unit. Plastic molded parts still have sharp edges to to molding process. Need to be smoothed out better. Easy to pull open but a bit hard to close especially since the optic sighting device is mounted where a proper hand hold would help.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

The Beaman P17 single shot pellet pistal is by far the best pellet gun that I've shot in it's price range.
I'm a late start airgun collector. I recently did an inventory and I'm up to 35 airguns. Everything from full auto AR's to single shot pellets. By far my P17 is my best shooting pistal. It also feels the best in my hand. I love the weight, the feel of the grip, and the automatic safety lock. This gun is awsome! Last thing, using the Beaman red dot sight that it came with the P17 I was able to hit a crow on a pole from 50 yards away! This is a very good gun. It is very easy and simple to operate. Anything negative said about this gun must have come from people with weak and shaky hand. Anyone who wants anything better needs to put some more money and buy something better. For the price of this gun, it is worth it. I got this gun today and decided to try it right away. I found it to be very good and accurate. About inserting the pellet: with a little manipulation I got used to it with ease. I highly recommend this gun to anyone who wants one shot at a time. Worst Pellet Gun I have ever owned in my life
Gun is not very accurate, unless you are an absolute sharpshooter. Red Dot sight is almost impossible to calibrate as you can not lign it up to any iron sights, I removed the red dot sight because it wasnt even close to accurate and calibrating after one hour was impossible, if you move the gun slightly it becomes uncalibrated Gun will not even penetrate a water bottle from 3-5 feet away. It says it shoots 410fps, but literally will not penetrate a plastic bottle from 3-5 feet away. With iron sight, its somewhat accurate from 15 feet away (for experienced shooters).
