    Worth the extra

These points motors are excellent. The cable supplied is easy to use and work. there is a positive noise when the motor operates and it moves the points to their exact location every time. the only problem that may be encountered is the fixing of the motor housing. The holes in the body for pins or screws are not very easy to locate. I use screws to fix the motor to the base board and once fixed the motor works as it should.

  • Most critical review

Fine for OO gauge, works but a bit tricky in N gauge

If you find yourself with a point over the top of a batten under the baseboard then this is your get-out-of-jail option. Apart from that I found it needs to be aligned perfectly with the point, which is probably easy with OO gauge, where it fits on to the point, but difficult with N gauge. I used a short connecting wire and it took a bit of fiddling to get the PL-11 to do more than twitch in one direction. Eventually I got it to work in both directions and glued it down quickly before it moved! Another problem I've yet to solve satisfactorily is how to disguise it. Not many N gauge trackside buildings are big enough to cover it!

  • The best that money can buy - in my opinion!

Excellent surface points motors. Easy to mount. I double sided taped the PL-11 to a piece of plastic which also sits under the track so I haven't used pins or screws. Nice and powerful. Connected to my H##rnby points decoder and works really well - controlled using R##lMast## .also from Tr##n T#ch PC200. Delighted with this PL-11. Watch out when connecting that the Green is Common and the Red and Black are for the direction. Other points are Black is Common and Red and Green are for direction. Not easily found in stock - waiting for China supplies. December 2020. Buy them whilst you can.

  • Reliable. works great with Peco especially.

This product fits very nicely with OO/HO Peco points. It can however be used with most makes as long as the points accept the drive rod shape. I have used these on OO scale and N scale. They are a bit large for N scale but if you can see past that they are good and reliable. I found some prone to disconnect from N scale points so they need very careful setting to ensure the loop did not come off of the point pin. I melted a few of the pins with a soldering iron to ensure they did not slip off but beware DON'T MELT TOO MUCH rather just enough to discourage slipping.

  • Points motor

Not a motor but a solenoid and, being a solenoid it really needs a capacitor discharge unit (CDU) which gives the solenoid a good wack of current ensuring it reliably switches the points. Without a CDU it's a bit hit and miss whether the points will switch. If you are running two points at once, say changing the route from one track to another then without the CDU there is no change it will work. Look at ebay number 400583931383. You can't make your own for this price, I tried. What you can do is add capacitors of the same size in parallel. It works well.

  • A great item and well recommended

Very easy to install, wiring is a dream to work with and the instruction on the package supplied easy to understand. The quality of the actual item is very good and saves a lot of time in placing and having to cut out damaging holes in you base board

  • Peco point motor model railways

A brand new peco product with proven reliability

  • Very useful bit of kit.

The device is used when conventional under-baseboard solenoids can not be used due to space constraints. At least, it is on my railway, and several have been used up to now. They easily solved my problems, and are very effective.

  • splendid point motors

I was a little apprehensive about these but I couldn't cut a hole in the baseboard in the chosen location,. I used two of these splendid point motors on a crossover and I am well pleased with their positive action.

  • Problem with long wheel base coaches

If you fit the motor with its standard connection to the point it’s too close to the track and long wheelbase coaches such as Peco’s own L&B hit the motor when the point is set to the curve. The motor has to be set back from the track and the connector rod extended. A poor design.
