Great inexpensive meter
If the correct soil moisture is important and you don’t trust your general judgment then this meter is perfect. No batteries, always ready, just push it in the soil and read the meter. Three zones: dry, moist, wet and 10 increments make it an accurate tool. I also like that it has a long probe enabling you to test different depths of the soil right down to the base in a 3 gallon pot. Definitely recommended. Appears to be well made, easy to use and nice clear indication of moisture on the meter. I use on chilli pepper plants which are 18 inçh pots so the surface dries out long before the centre and bottom layers. This tells me whats happening where l can't see. If i leave the plant till it wilts which is the obvious sign of dryness this confirms the lack of moisture throughout the pot. By using regularly it allows me to water just at the right time. Just need to polish the tip and dry the probe on a clean coarse cloth before and after use.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

A good basic moisture sensor for the price
Do not expect miracles by this little thing but it works-ish. It measures conductivity - which is higher when the soil is moist - hence a rough indication of whether your plant needs water or not. Indeed it showed me that I was overwatering all my plants - as it read very wet at the bottom of the pot. For those who claim the item is a scam as it does not read ‘wet’ when put into water, you should know that water is not very conductive per se - you’d be surprised to hear that distilled water is not conductive at all!! Bought to stop me over/under watering my house plants which I’m guilty of doing. Such a simple instrument to help you get the watering of the plants right.
