Easy to use & very straight forward
I bought this based off a review that I saw of the product by youtube Scotty Kilmer, the tester is easy to use & the screen is very clear, it even comes with a small instruction manual. I wanted to get something that I can use to check the status of my own battery before it goes bad but this item also checks the starting system as well which is good. only time will tell how it holds up because you probably won't be using it all that much.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I was disappointed in this battery tester will not test deep cycle battery's.
It test CCA of a CCA ranked battery. It will not measure the Amp Hours of a deep cycle battery, which is what I need to do.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Cost effective battery/starter/alternator tester
The tool indicated my battery CCA and starting voltage were low which was confirmed by my mechanic when I took my car in to have the battery replaced per the recommendation of this tool. The tests were listed in the order they should be performed on the screen of the tool. Screen prompts were clear and easy to follow. The results are summarized with clear recommendations such as "GOOD BATTERY" "GOOD-RECHARGE", "REPLACE", "BAD CELL-REPLACE", and "CHARGE-RETEST". It tells you the internal resistance of your battery, the state of charge as a percentage of full charge, the calculated available current in accordance with 10 standards including CCA, battery life as a function of available current compared to nameplate available current, the minimum voltage when starting the vehicle, the time it takes to start, the health of your alternator based on ripple voltage and charging voltage, and if you have a bad cell (no load voltage lower than expected). Nice, compact, intuitive, easy to use & store
So far, so good. It confirmed the good state of a good battery in a 1 year old car and recommended to replace a 7 year old battery and confirmed the bad state of another battery that had been used as a backup for a UPS. I hae not used it to check start the car diagnosis or alternator functioning. It replaces a bulky tester that put a huge load on the battery and did not give anywhere near reliable results. I like that it is compact and fits into a drawer readily. The manual is a bit vague, and the English is is not the best. As manuals and tools can be readily separated, it would have been nice if abbreviated instruction could be on the instrument or a "tag" on a cable which is a common practice for many household small appliances. This little item does a great job, I have been in the generator/starter/alternator business before, and to do a similar job as this tester does, I would need a carbon pile and a half an hour of time. Saved me from getting stranded with dead battery.
Use this to check your batteries every year before winter and it will keep you out of trouble. My car was starting good in cold weather but this said the battery was bad.
