    Super home printer

I bought this direct from Epson and thought it would be a refurbished unit. I was pleasantly surprised the unit was new and in original unopened packaging. It was a saving of approximately £100. I had it set up and on my network within 10 minutes. Print speed is acceptable and great quality even on standard settings. If you plan to scan or photocopy multiple pages regularly go for a printer with a document feeder instead. Similarly if you plan to print everyday then go for a model that has an ecotank as that will save you a small fortune over the life of the printer. This is the perfect printer for occasional use. To scan multiple pages to a single PDF file you have to do it from the Epson scan software on professional setting on PC as it can't be done from the printer controls. If all my family start printing photos I may look to refill my own cartridges! One cool feature I also tested was to connect the printer to 2 of my cloud accounts and also send an attachment by emailing it to the printer. The printer was clever enough to select the photo paper for the attached photo and A4 for the email.

    Unhappy with this printer

I can’t load the multi sheets of paper at the front. Each time I have tried rejects it. I have had some I know have a go and he couldn’t do it. I need to get inks. I had bought this to take larger sized paper. Also on my laptop it keeps telling me it can’t connect to some things- don’t understand why it can’t connect.I ended up getting a cheap Canon printer which was easy to set up. I am disappointed with this Epsom printer. I had had one before and that was easy to use .

  • Great A3 printer

The Epson XP-960 is a neat piece of kit, only a bit bigger than a standard A4. Having the wireless facility is really good as I can tuck the printer away in the workshop, and just fire it up when I'm ready to go. I use it solely for photo printing, never used the scanner. It gets through ink quite quickly (the six cartridges are a bit small) but Epson look-alike cartridges seem to work OK. I might change my mind on that when I start high-quality prints on A3. Set-up is a bit long winded - took about 30minutes for the latest driver to download but the PDF manual is very good and takes you through step by step. The touch display on the printer itself is much better than I expected. All the commands easy to access. I got an email address for the printer from Epson so in theory I can print photos from anywhere but it's not worked yet. I just get email header printed on expensive A4 so I've given up for now. It seems a bit unlikely that you'd have the printer on and ready and then email from somewhere else. I'm not sure I want Joe Bloggs using my ink and paper either! All in all - recommended especially if you have to spend a lot more to get to the next level (8 cartridges and vacuum hold-down).

  • Just wow!

This is the most impressive printer I've used by far. I printed out a photo of the Reichstag I took in Berlin on my old HP A4 printer and the glossy images would come out OK on full A4 (with premium settings). However, this beast of a printer can print the same photograph at A3 with even less distortion and fantastic contrast. I thoroughly recommend this printer and the generous quantity of Glossy A3 paper it is supplied with. It will also print anything smaller than A3 including the normal sizes, envelopes but more intriguingly CD/DVD size which they have included a special tray that is swapped into one of the paper feeds for disc printing. The touch display is great, in fact the panel it's fitted to opens automatically during print operation along with the output tray. Very neat, very modern. Downsides: Cartridges were a fiddle to get in (USER ERROR, not product) You can only print from a single A3 sheet at a time, you can't place several in at one go as is the norm with A4 paper feed. In fact, the printer will refuse to start printing until it's actually told you when to add the A3 to the rear feed. Not an issue for me although I bet it would be annoying in an efficient office environment. I haven't used the duplex feature yet so no comments there.

  • Easy to maintain, full featured printer.

There are plenty of reviews that merit this product. I bought it because I needed a printer that would maintain the quality printouts of my previous printer (1500w). At first I was sceptical about the single sheet feeder. However, this has reduced the number of paper jams for thicker prints to zero. It's a small inconvenience; however, as the printer is so compact. I can move it and carry on printing in front of the tv, so I'm not just sitting waiting to put paper into the printer. This is the first printer I've had with a copier (scanner), and now I'm wondering how I did without it. Previously I was scanning using a dedicated scanner (You'll still need a dedicated scanner if working with photographs - for example, Epson V800, due to the additional features and higher quality scans), then processing the image, before printing: now all it needs is a single click. Duplex printing is great - again saving me time printing one side, re-inserting the page and printing again. It does tend to slow down during double-sided printing, but this is necessary in order to ensure the ink is dry (I have had a few paper jams when I didn't pick the right settings). To avoid nozzle drop-outs or blockages I follow Epson's advice and make sure I print every couple of days. This is easier now - Switch on; select Nozzle Check; Print.... This is all done from the touchscreen of the printer. I print photographs and a tonne of plain paper items for work, so it doesn't take long before I get the message that my printer has reached the end of its service life - basically that means that the waste ink pads are full. However, underneath the printer these are easy to reach - a couple of screws and you can pull out the waste ink compartment (take care - you need to keep the printer upright at all times). I've replaced the ink pads with my own link free tissue. You can then use a utility like wicreset and your printer is ready to go again. Epson ink is really expensive (especially the cartridges), but this product can use third-party refillable cartridges. These cartridges can then be filled with third-party inks, which are far cheaper. You will get the message that using third party inks may damage the printer, but I've been using these inks for years and each printer has lasted around 5 years. I've not tried this but it could be possible to use Epson's EcoTank 6 color (colour) inks, which are considerably cheaper than the cartridges, and probably have the same quality. It's easy to maintain the Capping Station and rubber wiper. I clean these using deionised water and a printhead cleaning solution after each long print run. This helps improve the longevity of the printer and the printhead, as well as reducing nozzle blockages. Overall, for the price, this is a great product.

  • Great A3 photo-printer with bright colours on Epson printer paper.

All seems good, Prints really easy, quality of prints excellent. Photo prints very very good, using Epson photo-paper. lovely rich colours. Duplex printing works good, saves on using paper when document printing. I haven't printed any CD's yet, but the holder seems to operate smoothly. The control screen and document receipt tray are automatic (almost) Would be better if the display section could be closed always by just a button however the display screen is clear and easy to use. Exchanging inks is simply, follow instructions on display screen. Scanner is easy to use, produces clear image of document being scanned. Using different sizes of paper/photo-paper easy to adjust in the document holders. The A3 printer sections - paper feed works well. Note is A3 and not A3+. The whole product is not over big, as the A3 feed is vertical from the top rear, (manual feed). It is not over heavy. Wifi set-up connected to my home Broadband very easily. Can print from phone when out and about (make sure you leave the printer switched--on and plenty of relevant paper. I find these to be brilliant for my photo hobby, and document printing when studying. I've previously had other Epson photo-printers and would not consider any other make.

  • Epson xp 960 printer

I bought this printer as I have used Epson printers before so I know from previous Epson products that I have made a good choice, the printer is easy to set up and with the six separate ink cartridges the printing is perfect especially printing photographs, I would recommend this printer to anyone who is keen on photography or anyone printing documents.

  • Frustrating!

Difficult to set up the Wi Fi. Epson should know that most routers work at 5g transmission not 2.4g. I had to change all the settings of my router. Supposedly a "photo Printer" but has taken me 2 days and a lot of ink and expensive paper to try and get the Mono prints to print without a colour cast and to get the colour prints to look like what is on my monitor! Very frustrating and for £200 Epson needs to go back to the drawing board with this one. My issue is with Epson. Not the seller.

  • Better by Far

This replaced a Canon A3 printer that failed after three years. The Canon tended to spend far too much time preening itself. No such problems with the Epson. It was easy to set up and prints promptly, and to a very good standard. As I require A3 and print onto CD/DVD this is an ideal machine. An excellent printer at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

  • So far so good

Fantastic printer, scans and copies well, photo prints are good, the only thing is that is stated the printer came with a full set of ink cartridges but it's only a setup cartridges set which runs out VERY quickly. A3 printing is a breeze, as stated in other reviews A3 one sheet at a time and the 2 other trays are for A4 one tray and the other for smaller photo paper stock, the printer I got was new no marks or anything + the Epson 1 year warrantee, if you are in the market for a A3 printer I would recommend So far so good The only negative so far is the cartridges only being the setup ones.
