This adaptation of the 2015 book The Big Short by Michael Lewis tells the story of the financial crisis of 2007-2010 that exploded after four "outsiders" exposed the fraudulent mortgage lending practices of large banks on Wall Street. Christian Bale plays Michael Burry, a former hedge fund manager who was one of the first to forecast the collapse of the credit bubble due to excessive subprime lending whilst Steve Carell is Mark Baum, a money-manager who rose to fame after successfully betting against subprime mortgages. Also stars Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling and Marisa Tomei.

    If you thought you understood 2008 - -

    Saw this film in the cinema - felt the need to buy the CD. You need a fair grasp of the events leading up to the 2008 crash to 'get' a lot of what's going on, adn this deals with just one aspect of that - but it's entertaining and enlightening.
