Classic British horror polished up perfectly
A film that has always left an impression on me and is considered by many to be a high point of British cinema horror of the 70's - Certainly up there with Hammer supernatural tales and with this new 4K scan and restoration from Screenbound Pictures it looks better than ever. Rich colours and evocative photography make it a visual feast. Controversial on it's release, it is probably just as edgy with it's portrayal of children engaged in satanic rituals and explicit nudity. One of the few films set in the middle ages that looks convincing and retains an eerie edge fifty years after it was first released. Recommended.
