Great Product but forces you to use non native apps

Great but wish this was included with the Hues lighting kit for tv as it’s a requirement. $500 later after paying for everting I need, I can’t use my native apps on 4K and need to use the Apple TV if I want the lights to work as this box doesn’t provide anything for a native connection.

Good luck if your TV is older than 2018

30 years IT technical support experience, 1 month effort and I failed to get it to work. Wifi has to be 2.4Ghz, if you have a Netgear router, turn off Smartconnect; Get rid of your old HDMI cable, Hue Sync needs HDMI2.0b standard with HDCP 2.2, Hue Sync HDMI 2 & 4 are more reliable ... Philips support never explained why; Update the firmware on the Hue Sync box & the Hue Sync app & the Hue hub & the Hue bulbs. The lights turned on, sync started and did not change colour. Your TV must support Dolby Vision, so if it’s older than 2018, you are probably out of luck. In my case, the website said all Panasonic models are supported, but they meant to say all models after 2018. Someone tell the designer, go back to the drawing board and implement it using your PC hue sync program on a Raspberry Pi.

  • Expensive toy that has shortcomings

An expensive toy. If this was an integrated hub/sync - that would be better. If the app was integrated into the same app as the rest of the Hue stuck that would be better If volume control passed through the unit - that would be better So in terms of the device, I feel it should be a lot cheaper given the shortcomings that it has, or the shortcomings need cleaning up. As an extension to this though, if you are using a light strip behind the TV as this device is intended, then the light really only works well if your TV is on a flat wall as opposed to in the corner of a room - else the lighting isn't well balanced.,

  • It’s good, but..

Don’t assume it will work with your setup. Do your research. It does come with hdmi 2.0 ports (so no xbox 120hz), you would need an external device (roku, appletv, blue ray, cable box , etc - so, it won’t work with just your smart tv), the app has disconnection problems, and you can’t use it with lights that they’re not Philips.

  • Best addition for TV programming.

This almost feels like going to a theater. Along with 9 surround sound speakers we all ready have with a quality Tv this complete the viewing experience. The entire cost a little more than normal or none brand ones but definitely worth every penny.

  • Moderately complex, but worth it!

Somewhat complicated since it requires you to use a desk top PC or MAC with it, but well worth if for the effect it has had watching movies in our home theater!
