It shows all my nest cameras from my bedroom. The videos are very clear. The speaker sound is similar to my tv surround unit. The 10" screen is not small at all. Have my nest hub max mounted on wall. This unit needs to be supplied with a real manual. Its too complicated to ship out in a box, Most systems today are dual fuel which this stat scantily addresses. I have fooled with it for hours still not working. Getting help from Google by phone is time consuming nonsense. THey need to have someone to talk to real time. Who needs to talk...
I bought this to match an earlier purchase of another Google Nest Hub Max for my mother who has PPA (Primary Progressive Aphasia). In short, she can't speak! Our family and her friends use Google Meet (previously Duo) to make video calls to her. She can't speak but you can get an idea of what's she's thinking by her facial and body movements. It works great for this. She now has one for the Living Room/Kitchen area and one for her Bedroom. I've also uploaded All her photos (1000's of them) to Google Photo so she can look at any of them using the Nest. They also are randomly displayed on her Nest Max when she's not using it. The Max was refurbished and seemed like new. Was almost half the price of a new one. Most importantly she loves them and it let's her friends keep in touch with her without having to be driven to her home. They are all in the same 80-ish age group and are not easily mobile. Nice for photo frame
I use this primarily for the Google photo frame. It's pretty cool because you can pick a couple albums that you want to use from Google photos and it automatically shuffles through those photos. Essentially a smart photo frame. I have the ambient brightness manually adjusted in the settings to high otherwise it's too dim. The sound quality on this is okay but I wouldn't get it just for the sound. Good value easy to use and exceptionally good for a disabled person.
Overall it does everything I expected it to. There are of course things it does not do but I think in time it probably will such as finding a book and reading it etc. It is large enough to read with relative ease. My smaller version was fine for that except if I got more than a few inches away I could not read the screen. It handles my entire home for lights and other plugs I have in especially in the kitchen. This device was upgraded from the smaller Google Nest. Everyone in my family loves interacting with it. It's integration with YouTube TV super cool and its ability to handle all of the voice search activities extremely helpful. The largest screen is a definite improvement. I am really enjoying the Next Home Max - especially setting up Routines, telling it what to do with specific requests... eg: "Good Morning" prompts local weather, then Agenda items, then news recaps, featuring video (which is great). Really like the visual display when playing Playlists, but am waiting for many missing music sources to be added, eg: SiriusXM, iHeart Radio, Slacker/LiveXLive.
