Better than a bookshelf...
Got this for the house but with a view to loading it with craft stuff, paper, books etc. A chipboard shelf just wasnt going to do the job, wanted something that would take a lot of weight. Took a couple of hours to build the first one, due to arguing during building, but the basic boltless principle is quite simple. Once you've done a bit you know what to do and the second unit is easier. You can choose where to place the shleves on the unit which I liked. We had to prise open some of the slots with a screwdriver to help things along but I was expecting that from reading reviews, so that was ok. You really do need a rubber mallet for this. We were left with 6 metal pieces, which must be for joining the shelves and fixing them to the garage wall. Monster Racking Galvanised Pain
Having recently purchased another product from this seller, a nice, powder coated three bay corner unit, these galvanised units seemed to fit the bill for the rest of my sheving requirements. Upon opening box 1 of 3, I immediately noticed that the shelves in contact with the metal components in the box were very scratched. Also, upon unpacking the contents, some of the metal pieces had bent locating tangs and it was immediately apparent that the finish wasn't consistent. So, onto the building....having done the larger three bay, I wasn't expecting these to take long. How wrong that assumption was. Owing to poor tolerances in the manufacturing process and the slighty bent tangs, each unit took well over an hour to construct. Most tangs on the cross members had to be attacked with a flat bladed screwdriver to help them slide neatly into the slots, not an easy task whilst trying to tap into place with a rubber mallet. Sharp edges resulted in numerous thin, paper style cuts to the hands. Once up, they will clearly do what they should and feel sturdy, despite being a thinner gauge steel than my other item, especially once the included connecting clips are pushed into place. Worth the effort and faff? Not so much. I can't recommend this product, if you want 1800x900x300 shelving, I would look elsewhere.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good shelves at a good price
Delivered very quickly. These are good shelves - you can make them 90cm or 180cm high. Easy to put together - as long as the push the upper tabs on the beams out a little so they engange easily. The MDF shelves are fine for dry locations. For damp places, you'd need metal shelves. I saw exactly the same shelves advertised in last Saturday's Times at twice the price! OK but be prepared to fiddle a bit.
Its attractive and holds a lot, but a pig to assemble. I needed to slightly bend almost every piece to allow the two ears to slide in easily. The instructions aren't much help when it comes to differentiating between a shelf support and a short side.
