Wicked little board, but make sure you get one with the WiFi antenna wired for in- or external (+antenna) or WiFi be p.poor.

Wicked little camera unit. Buyer Beware ! Make sure the unit you order has the WiFi antenna routed to the areal you intent to use. Some units (like the one I bought unfortunately) come without external antenna but the chip routed to it. Consequently wifi signal is Extremely poor. I use ESP-32s for several projects, so can compare like-4-like. You must then either move the jumper with "a bit of very careful soldering" or buy an IPEX WiFi antenna. But to solder you'd need to be able to solder in tiny access with extreme high precision as that jumper is a mere 2mm and in a very tiny location! So: either confirm the one you buy is set internal or buy one with separate external antenna included.

Does not work after multiple attempts

Unfortunately none of the camera definitions / examples worked at all with this module / camera combo. This was with an updated arduino IDE with new ESP drivers / libraries etc. I've been working with arduino / ESP for a while now and normally been able to get things working pretty quickly - but not so with this board / camera combo. Board on its own worked - displaying / connecting to Wi-FI SSID's etc. so the ESP32 board worked as expected - but just not with the camera. Examples upload but when starting up gives multiple errors with camera and so startup fails. Tried with 3.3v initially then with the 5v line with no effect. I'll put this down to a bad unit and it'll go into the 'bits' drawer. Sorry cant give a positive review as it just simply doesn't work.

  • Remarkable

Remarkably good quality picture for price. Better than my Rpi one. Very easy to set up. Will be set up as a security cam using the WiFi connection.

  • Working in progress... alot of potential

It is not stable enough. If you following the git for this camera or any other script it connects and goes online alright, after 30 secs to a few minutes running the camera errors out requiring a power down and reset to restart it again.

  • Compact and functional

Great little device, reasonably simple to get going using the example sketches available. Fitting the camera cable is a bit fiddly, down make the mistake I made and pull off the plastic catch as its fiddly to refit, it flips up. Would be nice if there were some basic instructions included in the packaging. The ribbon cable for the camera is short, longer ribbon cables are available.

  • Excellent product

Excellent product, but one to watch out; the default antenna is set to external so to use the onboard antenna you need to move the zero-ohm resistor over, which is a bit fiddley!

  • ESP32 CAM Review

Very good value for money, but requires a couple of hours work to set up program to use as a wifi cam. Overall an excellent product.

  • Great min cam module for webserver

Amazing small form factor and reasonable quality cam for IOT projects. Built in WiFi works great. You will a USB to serial cable to enable programming from the Arduino IDE and there are plenty of tuorials online to guide you.

  • ESP32 CAM

These little boards are great. Just flash them with ESPHOME firmware and they are automatically detected by my Home Assistant. Amazing video quality.
