  • This is NO pool toy!

I've been looking for a raft that would withstand mild river rafting and that I would feel comfortable taking small a few small children in for an adventure on the lake. This raft is very thick and has reinforced areas where it is most likely to take damage. The floor makes it extremely sturdy. You can stand and even walk on the floor while it's on water. The inflatable seats are very strong and adjustable, which is nice because it can be tough to find the sweet spot to sit when rowing. The seats are wide enough for an adult and small child to sit side-by-side. Total time to inflate and assemble is between 10 and 15 minutes if you don't stop, but it's pretty tough when you're pumping so much. The pump expels air on both the pull and push of the plunger, so it inflates twice as fast as a normal pump. Very rugged and sturdy handles on both the front and the back make walking to the water a breeze for two people, but it's still pretty tough if you do it alone because the raft is very heavy. It deflates in just a few minutes, but it's not going to fit back into the bag unless you squeeze nearly all of the air out of it. The bag is very large, but it is still a challenge to fit the raft inside of it. It also includes a pouch and a battery bag which are both essentially useless because they're made of plastic that's about as thick as a sliced cheese wrapper, they have very cumbersome straps, and they're really too small to hold anything useful. Overall, I feel that while this raft is not on par with professional grade rafts, it is also unfair to group it with most inflatables the $200-$400 price range because it really does sit in a league above them.

  • better than expected and beyond

Upgraded from the Seahawk 2 for sneaking up on fish and it works great. With a bit of skill you can stand up in it, I just sit on my ice chest/fish storage. The inflatable seats that come with this raft are the only thing that is kind of a joke-great for small children but not an adult unless you Velcro two of them together(comes with 3) I just omit them for the extra space not that it is needed. The inflatable keel adds a nice touch of grace to the handling and the speed of the raft which I have an Minn Kota 40lbs thrust trolling motor with the intex plastic transom that can be bought separate and it pairs perfectly. The rod holders actually work on this raft and I have no fear of loosing a pole. Just remove the inner sleeve and adjust onto your rod, then place into the holder firmly. If you have your drag set proper then you will be fine, if you do by chance loose a pole it was your fault-you can attach a line to it. The raft has made my fishing trips more joyful and I am looking forward to hunting season to use it to travers to and from my stands as well as making the process of getting the game animals back to the vehicle much easier as I always hunt near waterway-rivers-lakes. **** Do not add a solid platform to this craft as you see others doing on social media, this will make your raft suseptable to flipping or tossing you overboard due to inclamate weather or waves from larger boats!!!!! The spacing in the solid planks are there to allow the raft to reduce this probability and should go unchanged unless you plan to spend time on small water and calm days.

  • Intex has done it again!

We upgraded from a terrific INTEX Seahawk ll to an even better and bigger INTEX Mariner 4. This raft is meant for serious river fun! Coast Guard approved, this inflatable raft is everything that we wanted and more than what we had in the Seahawk ll. Wider, longer, this 'boat' has been designed and manufactured with the three layers that are thick and tough! We purchased the motor mount to go with it and at first when we did buy it, we were skeptical. But once we got it, we were happy to see that it is as durable as our older marine board that came with the Seahawk ll. We had already paddles from years ago that we still use, so no reviews for that. The floor in the Mariner 4 is a bit bulky, depending on how much of a hurry you are in, and it is heavy. We like the five chambers, instead of the three that the Seahawk has. Overall? INTEX has made another great product for the price, and one that I highly recommend.

  • Easy setup and sturdy

This is the first boat for me. Considering I received it the day before we were scheduled to visit the lake, I set it up in my loft the night I got it. I took everything out of the box and laid it out. Filling it up with the included pump was not as bad as I expected. The valves are easy to work. Total time to fill all the cavities was about 30 minutes. At the lake, my grandson and I put it together (on a tarp) and then carried it onto the lake. Initially, we went out with 4 people (3 adult size and one 5 year old), small cooler and lunch bag (thanks to my wife). I was impressed with how stable it was on the water. It took me a little bit to get the hang of rowing (again, my first boat) but even that was fun. On our 3rd trip onto the lake with my oldest grandson, I tried to "row" us off the lake floor since we had bottomed out when we got in... the oar broke in half (at the plastic connector). I had read other reviews about the oars so, here's another example. For the rest of the day we merely paddled our way around. Will have to fix or replace the oar later. Overall, I'm happy with the Mariner 4. Will be using it quite a bit.

  • Looks Sturdy and withstands waves!

Awesome product for the price, i would say it is nearly professional quality. I couldnt believe thid thing dont wobble like my canoe does. Boats can charge close by and this thing wont budge on tipping the huge tubes actually kills the waves as it hits the boat, in fact i can walk all over it without worry of falling. My young two boys and my self can stand up fishing for crappies with no scare tactic. They r like dad your boat is different from your canoe, its not tipping like crazy anymore!

  • Tough and Fun!

So let me start this review by saying that I’m a big guy, 280 lbs. I’m also a beginner when it comes to boating. I’ve now tested and inflated it in the garage 3 times with the optional motor mount & 40lb trolling motor, taken this boat out twice on Lake St. Clair, and so far it’s been a quality boat! There was an initial issue with a missing floor board, but Intex support handled it easily and sent me another entire floor quickly, for free! It’s very stable and durable, the inflatable keel along with the extruded flooring makes it feel safe enough for even me to walk on. Very simple to transport and put together, about 30 minutes assembly. The included pump, though manual, is fast. Definitely an amazing value with all included, an awesome first experience for new boaters, and a quality rugged build. There are a few things I’m changing to make this even better: - The 3 included cushions are comfortable and durable, but I found I had to stack them to make a proper seat height for me. To save room, I’m going to use a cooler as a seat. - I’m using the separate Intex 40lb thrust trolling motor. It was made for this boat and does push it along nicely with my weight, a 90ah battery, and supplies. Being on the Great Lakes brings one challenge to this motor, current. A lot of video reviewers show the boat on calm waters while hauling low weight. To fix that, I’m getting a Seamax 65lb (2HP equivalent) brushless and stepless trolling motor. Much more energy efficient than regular brushed trolling motors while delivering the power needed. - The included carrying bag fits the boat nicely, but is cumbersome to carry. I’ve seen some folks use a hockey bag (Very Canadian) to haul their inflatables. I’m going to try it!

  • Mariner boat

I love this Mariner 4 boat, I had before the intex boat for 3 people, now I have this because now we are 4 in the family, it has a lot more space. We take to the lake with a electric motor, it is amazing, so confortable, I'm so happy with this purchase.

  • A great Inflatable Boat at a Reasonable Price

I would have rated the Intex Mariner 5 Stars if the folding plastic flooring was lighter in weight (I'm 76 years old) & if the air input valve on the Keel was the same as the valves on the rest of the boat. However, other than those two minor drawbacks, we have really enjoyed the boat and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable inflatable boat,

  • All around great raft

I have had several rafts and this is by far the best one I've owned. I used to just use them for going down rivers, but now I like to fish on lakes with them as well. The raft is kind of heavy since it is made with such durable material so I keep the floor stored separately from the raft itself. It took me and my buddy about 20 minutes to set everything up at the lake including the motor mount. Fits 2 people comfortably with all your gear. Awesome raft and I highly recommenced it for the price.
