An outstanding and immersive game
There are some games that build a world that is simply pure joy to step into. The Witcher world is one. The story, the characters, the game-play; all are rich with detail and intrigue. I love the detective element of many quests which offers a diversity to the combat, keeping things from becoming monotonous. Even little things like how alchemy items are weightless removes the hassle and time-wasting I associate with games such as Skyrim - where I can spend hours storing items and retrieving them to make potions and am furious at the time lost. The game can be buggy at times so watch out. But the frequent saves mean that the occasional crash does not lose too much time. Overall a truly great game (I am always reluctant to give 5/5 or 10/10 etc for anything) that I find myself indulging in whilst retaining the ability to step away after a good quest rather than continuing and playing beyond the healthy point. Having read numerous, and I mean numerous, glowing reviews of this game I had high hopes. Frankly, about two hours in and I just find it clunky and boring. The voice acting and character animations are pretty atrocious and the gameplay is m'eh.
