Fantastic Mechanical Automatic Movement Watch for a Price for a Plastic Watch.
This is my second Vostok Amphibian watch, the first is an Amphibian Neptune and this model is actually called Amphibian Clasic-120,I must admit that I am quite satisfied with both watches.If you look at what you get for $ 50, like in this case,then there is no room for complaining about anything,You get a mechanical watch that will work many years to come,for $30 you get a Casio W-800H-1 plastic watch I mean, not difficult to draw conclude.This model was a bit "stubborn" from the start to keep the right time but after a while these 15-18 seconds as this watch goes faster, in the day, I can live with,automatic movement is one 31 Jewels Vostok 2414B movement and is very very quiet In work. All Vostok watches have plastic glass on the dial but I find no hindrance or minus for this matter,The entire 50; 60; 70's almost, all watches had plastic glass,so,this is nothing that you can be afraid of,on the other side there is a lot of offerings on polishing paste for plexiglas and with these polishes it is quite easy to polish off most scratches on the plastic glass.Regarding the entire case of the watch as well as the crown to all of you who have doubts: Yes,all Amphibian models are made of Stainless Steel and not of chrome-plated brass as many believe, once again many famous Swiss watches in the 70's were made of chrome-plated brass case,and as today we are prepared to pay large amounts just to get their own .Concerning watch crown on the Vostok IS NOT broken because that it wobbles when you unscrew it, it's just special,with a specific solution also like the solution of the back cover,Smart, does not need to change the seal gasket in the long time.I also like that the watch is "grateful" for all type of "facelifting",such as a simple change of this silicone strap to a steel bracelet.Speaking of this silicone strap that watch comes with, is comfortable to wear, however, myself found a little irritation on these small straps on the watch band because they have the light to slide in their direction and then I have to move them to the right position all the time.Just as the strap is made of silicone or PU material can be annoying if I have clothes with long sleeves that it takes in clothes or sticks to clothes,So, probably it is not supposed to use silicone band on the watch in combination with long sleeved garments.When it comes to illumination on the WatchI have to say that I have found quite satisfied with this, in some cases have been noted that any of these small points on dial do not light enough but this is not in my case.As a conclusion: gladly recommend this watch,An excellent choice as the first mechanical-automatic movement watch since to wear an automatic watch is like a personal thing,and to all of us who are watch lovers this is something that simply has to be in the collection. I've started with "facelifting" of my Vostok Amphibian,removed this PU strap and mounted a shark bracelet instead and is already very satisfied in appearance,The next step will be to replace this highly polished rotating bezel with a black bezel with a compass scale instead,to replace Bezel on a Vostok watch is quite simple "operation" which most can handle without contacting the watch repairer,is required just a little patience and use the right part of the organ: brain,that's all.Thanks from me to all of you who have taken their time to read my full review of this model on Vostok Amphibian Clasic-120849.Thank you. My first Vostok, but it won't be my last
Fun watch... It is what it is, and that's what adds to the charm of these watches. Time accuracy isn't amazing, but it's fine for the price. You can probably find some Seiko 5 automatics that perform better for the same price, but these just have so much character i had to see for myself. Smaller case size is perfect for my 6.5 wrist. There are so many styles and sizes to choose from, in addition to mods to further customize your watch. The crown feels a bit sketchy when pulled out but I've read this is how they are lol. I replaced with a perlon strap instead but the rubber strap really comfortable (some people don't like the rubber strap)
