Super Sound

Not as bluetooth as you might expect
As a speaker it is very good and easy to set up. As I have a Samsung TV the connection to the TV was also very easy. BUT it is described as Bluetooth WIFI Multiroom so you think that you can connect the speakers together and use in stereo mode which was one of my main reasons for buying. Alas the description doesn't give you the whole truth - you CANNOT connect more than one speaker using bluetooth - only on wifi. However, rather than send them back, I am keeping them as they are farbetter than my previous set up.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good but could be so much more versatile and let down by the app
I have a Samsung soundbar and have been considering the Samsung R1 for a while but couldn’t bring myself to pay the original price for what would be a kitchen extension speaker. I bought this because they are now on discount and I got it for under half price. It operates on Bluetooth or Wi-fi and can be quite challenging to set up. I use Wi-fi and that introduces its own inherent weaknesses with occasional breakdowns. I thought the range from the hub might be a problem but at about 15m it seems fine. The sound is very good, if a little bassy sometimes, but the app has a simple equaliser so you can tune it to suit yourself. I think 2 to give stereo would be brilliant but could be even more tricky to set up. It would be so much more usable for me if it had a physical input as well. The Achilles Heal is the poor Multiroom app. It is not very intuitive and very restrictive. My wife, who is not dim, would struggle to use it on her iPad. She has already failed to grasp the sounbar’s temperamental behaviour which is hard wired to the Tv and sometimes switches on and sometimes doesn’t. From what I have seen of the Sonos system that is so much better, even though I don’t think the sound is any better.
