It's NOT really a BoomBox
If you're looking for deep hard hitting bass, don't expect much from this "boombox". If you're looking for a radio to use in a small room WITHOUT deep hard crisp bass, this radio is great. The radio has great features. The radio is fairly priced. The bass button only gives a subtle addition of bass. It leaves you craving for more. The volume of the radio is not very loud; not as loud as you are probably expecting it to be. This is not the type of "boombox" that you want to bring to a party. However, it is sufficient to use in small areas or areas where there is not much noise. The radio satisfies my needs, but I'm still craving bass.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Refurbished

Moderately Sized Media Player
This Sony media player does a decent job of playing from a USB flash drive and CD. It is not a good radio, at least not where I live. The Bluetooth works well. The "mega bass" is a gimmick that Sony thought might make this average player a little above average. It fails! One can barely tell the difference when it is in the mega bass mode and when it is not. The unit has a few quirks too: there is no back light on the read out, making it difficult to see, also it would be nice when there no power to the plug that the batteries would take over, but you have to unplug the power cord from the player for the batteries to work. It would also be nice if when the USB drive was plugged in it would start playing but you have to hit the play button after selecting the USB mode. The sound quality is about average and can be loud if wanted. There is no clock or alarm functions. The lid covering the batteries can easily come off if not careful. I have noticed lately that the quality of Sony products are not what they used to be.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Refurbished

Cool Boom Box
Sounds great and easy to use. Has lots of features like being able to tale CDs and put them on thumb drive with one button. Has three favorite buttons on top in front that are easier to use than the pre-sets that it also has. I love Bluetooth, no more wires everywhere. Just great though a little large for today's standards and kind of fragile because of being so large. Antenna is not heavy duty, can break easily so take care. Good Sound For Small Size
Purchased as a Christmas gift for my 12yr. Sound is good, not great. It's ideal for what I want it for, good sound, but not to loud. This is not the type of 'boombox' that you can hear through out the house. Mega Bass makes a subtle difference, nothing to brag about. No BOOM! CD player works fine. BT connects easily to my Android. Radio picks up stations well and sounds good and I'm in a bad reception area. Antenna seems sturdy and durable. There's no static play at any volume or when switching functions. Max volume is not very loud, but sounds good. No distortion. Carrying handle is sturdy and secure. (Honestly, if they took the Mega Bass out of the title, it could get 5 stars. Sounds better than expected..
Nice little unit that sounds much better than I expected..will not provide enough volume for large areas but perfect for a single room..I would have given it 5 stars but the multi function operation buttons are very confusing especially when trying to use replay, shuffle functions. This radio has everything
This is a well built radio with modest sound qualities. Not a boom box as it is only the size of a loaf of bread. The bass quality is good but not too loud and will not distort the sound at full blast. The ability to play radio and cd's and burn music as well as bluetooth,USB port and mp3 player was the selling point for me. The only reason I didn't give five stars for this excellent product is it's small size. I bought several and placed one in each room as well as the RV. What you would expect at the price
The sound quality of the unit is ok, as is the potential "durability." Some of the functions are a bit clunky - how the usb works (loads everything on the stick) - and presetting radio stations - automatically searches signals and presets first 20 it finds. Three favorite presets have separate buttons which offsets the randomness of the automatic preset. A major disappointment is that the Bluetooth NFC is not compatible with my brand new Bluetooth soundbar. Overall, the unit is what you would expect at the price. Great CD Quality
The wife likes to listen to her late father's old CD's and Country radio stations but was always fighting the reception & skipping CD's with the AM/FM CD player the daughter bought her. I did a little research and found this radio highly rated. The wife loves it. We can put an old, marked up CD in it and it will play with no problems. I even started smacking the table with my fist and it still wouldn't skip. The radio picks up plenty of our local stations and the sound quality is quite good. I would say the volume can reach levels that are more than ample for indoors. Once you figure out how to do it you can preset more channels than you'll probably ever use and it has 3 buttons on the top for your Top 3 favorite channels for quick access. Overall I would highly recommend this portable AM/FM CD player for household use or small gatherings. My only real con on this radio is the display. It doesn't light up which makes it difficult to read and when it is not being used it says "STANDBY". Compact boombox with good sound

Great Features-Mediocre Sound
Handsome as can be and just the right footprint though deeper than I expected. This has all the right features and everything works well except bluetooth has some intermittent micro-glitches. Sort of like internet radio in a way. I can live with it. Once, the bluetooth started screaming. I re-paired and it settled down. Nearly a deal breaker, the unit has crummy overall sound. Not just anemic base. I could live with a lack of bass. Fuzzy and soggy sound is what annoys. My tiny Anker Bluetooth speaker blows it away in every respect. I really wanted the AC power and USB(which is terrific. It will resume where you left off, at least with song tracks). Great engineering but falls short on sound and Bluetooth. If Sony cleaned up the distortion and installed better speakers, it would be an incredible value though the Bluetooth is not perfect, either...
