  • Lightweight and well designed but has potential problems

Like many other Apple products, it has a nice feel to it and well constructed - the keys have a reasonably consistent feel across their keyboards but annoying the Fn key is in a location that may get confused with the Ctrl key. They keys and layout are full size (comparing to the full size Apple A1243) The only downside is that a number of colleagues who have the Apple keyboards complain about keys failing, unrelated to spillages etc, after time. Indeed you'll see many apple keyboards on ebay listed as "keys not working". It's almost identical to the (discontinued and difficult to find, even on ebay) Wired A1242 excepted the wired version has 2 USB ports built it. The newer version of the Apple Wireless (Magic) MC184 keyboard replaces this A1314 but significantly the newer version has an inbuilt/non removable rechargeable battery whilst the A1314 (subject of this review) takes 2x AA batteries - the much older/original A1314 took 3x AA - this may be important to you if you hate rechargeable batteries that stop holding charge after a while. Bluetooth connections seem to take a little while to connect so if you've paired the wireless keyboard to multiple devices in the same room (your tv, tablet, PC etc) then it can be a pain to pair to the right thing and sometimes it takes multiple resets of the keyboard to achieve. If you're only pairing to one thing then it's less problematic. Having had both the mini keyboards (wireless A1314 and wired A1242) I slight prefer the wired version - simply because it doesnt suffer the bluetooth pairing pains. But obviously if you're looking for a wireless bluetooth keyboard, this is a fine keyboard but be aware of the cost point weighted against potential failing keys.

  • The last 'great' Apple Magic Keyboard.

For me, this is the Rolls Royce of keyboards. Very happy with it indeed! The later models of Apple 'Magic' keyboards have fallen in to Jony Ives trap of being overly obsessed with 'thin'. All subsequent models after this one, began a journey towards less key travel and less space between the keys. All bad for reducing impact RSI from regular typing and not being able to 'feel' your key spacing to develop muscle-memory about where the keys are, as well of course as the dreaded clatter of noise because of the reduction in damping under the keys. The only good thing about the later 'Magic' keyboards is that they are rechargeable and don't run on batteries which is of course better for the environment. But for me, they are inferior, unpleasant keyboards to use and this one is so much better that I'm sticking with it.

  • Efficient, timelessly stylish and ultimately functional

As with most Apple products, it is efficient and easy to set up. The user experience is an appealing and unfussy interaction with the interface and its connection to whatever device the keyboard is remotely connected to. Essentially, it looks and feels good, is a delight to work with and does its job effectively; something that eliminates what could potentaily be a chore to something tangibly pleasurable.

  • apple magic keyboard

it is very easy to set up with my ipad 7th gen it was set up in secs and works just like a laptop keyboard its slanted so its at the right angle for typing no back lighting but that is only minor and its built well worth every penny

  • Good purchase

Glad I bought this rather than replacing our damaged keyboard with a new one which blew when it got water damage. It refurbished keyboard I was sent was very clean and functions perfectly. The keys seemed a little nibbled around the very edges - not very noticeable - but I decided to switch all the keys from my old keyboard onto the replacement as they were in perfect order.

  • Great keyboard

I bought this as I had tried a couple of aftermarket keyboards that were not reliable at picking up the key presses, this keyboard is great you can just type away without a problem. The battery is lasting well, it's been used everyday for the last month and still going strong. All in all its a nice bit of kit.

  • Simple minimalist design that just works

I have come to love this keyboard, which I purchased second hand for use with my macbook and external monitor. Together with the companion trackpad, it improves the user experience over the original keyboard, from an ergonomics standpoint. I just grok the minimalist approach Apple has taken (the whole back is 3 mm thin, excluding the end spine), with the normal sized power button to one side, the battery compartment to the other and the sinfully tactile feel of the brushed aluminium case. And the typing experience is very good too. No sticky keys here! The only drawback I can see is the exceedingly steep price as New. For an impulse buy, most people can only afford Used prices.

  • Apple Magic Keyboard

Replacing one that I thought was damaged after cleaning with a household cleaner, but pouring boiling water over the keys and letting it dry thoroughly for several days fixed my original one, which was in a less 'marked' state than the one received, although it worked perfectly and will serve as a backup

  • Superb genuine Apple keyboard which is very easy to install.

This preowned genuine Apple keyboard listed as a Grade B product due to very slight discolouring works absolutely fine and fantastic value at £19.

  • Why buy new?

I prefer wireless keyboards and like the light touch of the Apple keyboard - and I use it a lot for work - this one is used and works perfectly well - a good value replacement for one that suffered an accidental spillage.
