    Very responsive and well built

having had a previous generation wheel a few years a go - I had not been that impressed. when I decided to try again I chose this wheel. I have to say I am very impressed. Sturdy, well made. The feedback is smooth and informative. Belt drive makes a huge difference from the old gear type. I recommend it. the only thing I would change would be the wheel cover material. the pedals are heavy and don't slip and slide around. Very happy with the choice.

    I got unlucky

I got unlucky with mine. It wont stay calibrated despite downloading sofware and a hardware fix. Basically it auto calibarates each time it is turned on and gets the auto part slightly off. As a result the wheel is not 100% centred for each game. I think you would get used to it more quickly if there was not a blue stripe on the wheel clearly showing it is off centre. The reasonfore the title? Many users have reported this but quite a few are resolved by the sofware or hardware tweaks on the internet. Mine wasnt.

  • Only let down by the pedals...... Buy Thrustmaster T3PA Pedal Set. I did :D

Get the worst over with. The pedals you get with this wheel are ok IF and ONLY if, you never had a wheel before. If you've ever had a good (My route was DFGT - G27 to T300) wheel then buy one of the add-on's T3PA and 3TPA Pro. If you're coming from a G25 or G27 there IS an adaptor to allow you to use these pedals instead of those it comes with, less than the new pedals but very similar to the T3PA set. As for the wheel itself? Had one suffer the "ballistic calibration" fault that broke the main shaft, replacement was fast and simple has been used for 4-5 months no problems. The dual belt + Brushless servo makes the whole thing beautifully smooth under the finger tips, No "notchy-ness" no "slack" or play in the mechanism. This means the Force Feed Back is soo much more informative than my other wheels, as a result you get more confidence to really push the limits. More importantly when NOT to :) It has all the options you need in the software (unlike the G27's replacement) and works with pretty much every PC driving game from the last 2-3 years which is a big plus. I play Many driving games such as Grid Autosport, Project Cars, Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally, Dirt 3, made a few vids on youtube, SRS13Rastus. If you wanna take a look. all my vids from the last 9 months (Forza Apex aside...) are using the T300RS + 3TPA. Even the broken wheel wasn't enough to put a downer on this, the performance beats any wheel in it's class....

  • My first wheel, and proper racing game.

Hi Folks, I'm now 49 and enjoyed racing games for a few decades on and off, but never really got into them as such. I'm slightly more than a casual gamer in terms of game time, but not an expert by any means. I got into GTA V and the crew I joined had quite a few people interested in racing and I felt most at home there and got quite good. Talking to a few of the other members I started looking at other racing games. I also had an Oculus Rift and decided to give the ' fully immersive ' experience a go so started looking for a wheel that I could use on Project Cars ... I'm on the PC by the way. I saw a video on YouTube that was comparing the T300 and T500, I decided on the T300 because it sounded like it has a smoother force feedback although not as strong. I can't really give a great review as this is the only wheel I've used, also I don't actually drive :) The first thing that impressed me when unboxing it was just how solid everything felt, the weight of the wheel alone inspired some confidence in the build. Installation of the software was a total breeze, when launched you have a lot of options to tailor the feel to you driving style. I left it on defaults, and have since. When I get more used to racing I'll probably start playing around more. I also can't say much about the mountings as I ordered a stand alone frame for it at the same time, but the pedal design seems to be solid and well designed with optional feet for solid floors. Because of the footrest design I can see no real problems with using it ' loose '. My only concern would be the mounting bracket supplied that is designed to connect it to a table, as I explained before mine is hooked up to a frame. Though, given how well the rest works I would imagine it will be fine. So onto playing project cars with it. The wheel grip is fine, I've had no problems with it for an hour or so ... Not done longer but think I would run out of energy before it became uncomfortable. The pedals feel good in just socks, never felt my feet were sliding off. The pressure needed to activate the accelerator and break I found great, enough of resistance that you had control without being over bearing. The buttons on the wheel, to be honest, don't have the greatest of 'feel' to them but works well enough and I don't see any issues with them. The two gear change levers at the back of the wheel have a really fantastic feel to them, very positive clicks over a long range .... so you don't have to have your fingers over them dead center. Lastly, feedback ... Love the feedback :) After only a few laps I could feel the difference between over and under steer also when someone had hit me from behind. The MAIN advantage I found ( as a newbie ) was I could feel the sideways force on the car when exiting a corner and balance the throttle to give me the best exit speed. I was not really concerned about the amount of ' force ' it provided as was more interested in the ' feedback ' side. Having said that, I'm 6' and over 20 stone .. Not exactly small, and still find myself fighting the wheel when I mess up :) Remember you can set the force feedback to suit. In summary, I'd say this is a good wheel for those looking to step up from a basic one or for their first foray into the mid range wheels. As I have said before I am not a ' pro ' gamer or have any experience of other wheels ... But for me, it was well worth the investment. Now excuse me while I go off and try DiRT Rally which should have downloaded by now :)

  • Mind your fingers

This product is AMAZING, I don't know much about offerings from Thrustmasters competitors, as this is my first ever wheel. However I do know that I was 'advised' to go straight for this wheel and ignore some of the cheaper offerings. With cost being a factor, I've said this ISN'T good value (as it's very expensive) but it is indeed CLASS! The force feedback is possibly sufficient to harm one of your fingers if your not careful. I now see why 'professional' sim racers were gloves, whilst previously in the past I just thought they were ****! If you want a wheel, and if you can afford this wheel, then go straight in and get this wheel as your entry level wheel. You wont be disappointing!

  • Brilliant

Was put off buying a wheel when I tried a cheap wheel. Just wish I got this wheel instead straight off the bat. It's fantastic. Didn't even adjust settings. Plugged in and played straight away. Gives driving games a whole new dimension lol. Its defo a must buy. But your defo need some kind of chassis to fix to as the feedback is strong.

Proper racing wheel, nice and well made, like a proper steering wheel, nothing fake about it at all. What racing games have been crying out for. Definitely made a difference to my gaming experience

  • Great wheel

Very happy with this wheel, great value and quality. Pedals are fine but upgraded them. Not really necessary though they are better than I thought they would be. Delighted.
