This Fuji 14 mm wide-angle lens is ideal for acquiring landscape, architecture, building interiors, and street photos. This Fuji lens provides minimal distortion and accurate perspective for sharper images. Light is distributed evenly from the centre of the 14 mm wide-angle lens, but it does not lose the clarity and contrast toward the edges of the image. The Fuji lens has an aperture range of f/2.8-22. At the maximum aperture, the Fuji non-XF lens can utilise a fast shutter speed with smooth autofocus even in low light conditions. The blades on the Fuji non-XF lens are rounded for a more pleasant effect in the images. This 14 mm wide-angle lens has an angle of view of 89 degrees and a magnification of 0.13x. Brilliant performer
The build quality is on par with the rest of the XF line, it is an all metal construction and feels solidly built. The focusing ring is combined with a clutch for easy switching between manual and autofocusing which is a nice idea. Focusing speed is good but I wish the manual focus ring was more damped. Not quite an issue as I zone focus most of the time when using manual focusing with this lens. Aperture ring clicks are well defined, unlike on some of my previous Fuji lenses. Image quality is excellent, I was surprised to see that despite its wide angle (21mm equivalent) it has no perceivable distortion whatsoever. Some vignetting is present though, especially at large apertures and it does not seem to decrease that much by stopping down. Colour rendition and contrast is superb and I do not see much to worry about chromatic aberrations either. This lens is quite sharp. It's absolutely cracking in the centre of the frame right from f/2.8. Corners are still great at this aperture albeit not exceptional but of course it greatly improves by stopping down and the sweet spot is between f/5.6 and f/8, which is the most commonly used setting for the large depth of field it provides at this viewing angle anyways. All in all, it's a brilliant performer, if it had weather sealing this would be the perfect landscape lens to me but it doesn't stop me from using it outdoors. I find it remains attached to my camera most of the time which is a telltale sign. I tend to combine this lens with the 18-55mm zoom on most of my trips as they share the same filter size and these two lenses cover most of my needs and comprise a fairly light setup. Forgotten Lens?
The Fujifilm XF 14mm F2.8 is a very sharp, very well made lens. It’s wide, almost beyond the conventional scope of what is considered a wide angle lens but this creates opportunities for the photographer rather than problems. You can capture street scenes in quite a unique way because it is wider. It’s a lens that makes dramatic shots by enabling the photographer to capture size within the context of surroundings. Fujifilm quality lenses
Apart from the two early lenses (18mm & 27mm) which perform very well, all the later lenses are stunning. This 14mm f2.8 is super sharp has a traffic dynamic range and very low distortion. I love the instant mechanical focus ring with depth of field view.
