Best Value for a 4K Camcorder in my opinion
I bought 3 of these 4K camcorders to replace my 3 Sony SR12 HD camcorders which I bought in 2008/2009. My reason for replacement was I wanted to video in 4K to upload to Youtube who now fully support 4K videos. These Camcorders are very easy to use. They default to the 4K videos so all you do is press the record button and that's it ! The auto focus is superb ! and the quality is very sharp and natural. I bought some extra powerful batteries which last over 3 hours between charges but the ones supplied will last over an hour between charges. So not necessary unless you do long videos. You can check out my recent YT videos using 3 of these camcorders by searching YT channel random275 . All those since 23 Oct 2019 are using the Panasonic VX 870 Camcorders. Lightweight with great features
The camera is extremely light weight and the auto settings makes it very easy to use effectively without needing to be very knowledgeable about photography. Being 4k means that although the camera was launched I think back in 2015 it is still relevant in 2020 and at a affordable price. The short comings are that there are some designs faults like the placement of the hot shoe which comes as an attachment and slots into the back of the camera meaning that most attachments will now get in the way ofyur fingers to control the zooming in and out control button. The audio input is a great feature as many camcorders do bolt had this but it can only be reached once you open the screen. This is annoying as it means you will be consuming essential battery power unnecessarily during a shoot as the screen will stay on. Good camera, some issues with image quality
This is a good camera for the money, with a good lens, light and easy to use. There are some confusing settings and the image quality when recording slow motion is poor. It seems that the slow motion recording can only be done in very low resolution setting so the resulting picture is grainy and unsharp. Great little 4K camcorder. Great image although the colour isn't vibrant like on some other camcorders. This is to do with the image processor and because the codecs is compressed. There is also image noise too, more than you would expect from what is supposed to be panasonic top consumer camcorder. Hence the price has dropped and many people are going to Canon. I have to be honest and say I was a little disappointed. You certainly wouldn't use it for bottom range pro work.
