    The best all around CPU

The 5960x is a beast CPU, it’s quick and nimble, and so versatile for practically any computing need. No it’s not a super computer chip but for home PC’s you can call it that. No other chip I know of can be so stable at extreme overclocking or so stable and high performing at normal operating conditions. Gaming is not a problem, design software runs great, when it comes to video and audio editing you won’t lack in the performance category. I’ve not have any problems with the 5960x and wonder if another CPU can entice me to upgrade, so far after several years no CPU has.

    Great upgrade from a 5820k

First the pros if you have an x99 Intel platform and lower end CPU like 5820k 6 core CPU. just slotting in the 8 core 5960x with its 40 PCIe lanes and two extra cores is a no-brainer. If you find it at $300 to $350 it is defiantly worth the swap to keep the entire platform without tossing everything else out. fairly good overclocker. IHS is soldered for lower temps. Cons Price for new 5960X is crazy anywhere from $800 to $1000. if you don't already have X99 platform go with new one.

  • It used to be king. It still is a great processor. Thank goodness for competition!

I upgraded my 5820K to the 5960X and am happy that I did. My video rendering and editing goes much faster. The 5960X was the king of the hill for about a year and a half till newer technology, aka more cores, started to get into the market place. AMD with Ryzen and Thread Ripper has brought the prices down on most CPU's as AMD is now challenging Intel which is a very good thing. I own both the Ryzen 1800X and the 5960X CPU's and I use both machines. The 5960 X is still my choice for video editing and rendering as I was able to overclock it to 4.6 Ghz and get the memory to overclock. With the Ryzen, even after several months and Bios updates and firmware updates, still cannot overclock past 4.1 Ghz. So the Intel 5960X gets the nod most of the time while the rest of the family gets to use the Ryzen machine. The price has come down from the original $1200 list price because of AMD and for that I am thankful. I've seen the 5960X at less than half the original list price and they get snapped up pretty quick. Seeing how they no longer are being made, the 5960X will become more scarce as time goes on. Maybe the price will rise a bit but because of Thread Ripper, that probably will not happen and you will see even better prices on this excellent CPU. If you are looking for a problem free time tested CPU, I highly recommend the Intel 5960X CPU. It is fast and overclocks much better than the AMD CPUS's.....at least for now. Thank goodness for competition!!!!!!!!!!

  • The best I could get!

This CPU was the best possible choice for my Motherboard. Years ago, it was nearly $1000 and now I’m getting it for less than half the cost. Installation is simple, although you need thermal paste and an understanding of CPU installation - which you can get on YouTube. The 8-core 5960x currently runs any available game and when paired with aN SSD, GTX 1070Ti or 1080Ti, provides flawless 4K gaming experiences.

  • Intel HEDT 8-core Performer

This is very nice CPU. It is a high-end processor for intensive tasks with 8 cores. It is also a good CPU for a multiple GPU gaming rig or for someone who needs fast single core or multi core functionality, such as video editing. Fast performance with many cores makes this one of the premier CPUs even though it is a few generations old. This means it maximizes it’s value over others available. Unless you really 10 or more cores, this is a great CPU.

  • Grest cpu

While this CPU may be aged in 2018 it still runs 8 cores at decently high frequencies. If you can find this CPU at a good price it makes an excellent upgrade for an existing X99 system or for someone looking to put together a refurbished build.

  • Solid purchase

Ordered a couple days ago, was given a week delivery expectation, received it within a couple days. Installed this CPU into an Fatal1ty X99X, replaced a 5820K to try to extend the life of my current PC for at least another year. This CPU runs like a charm. When experimenting with the OC settings it was stable up to 4.5Ghz with some minor voltage adjustments, only issue was on my end having an improper cooler to maintain such performance. Currently running just below maximum rated temperature at 4Ghz.

  • I love this Processor

The J series processor is a great overclocker, it performs outstandingly for games like WOT and others. Now that they can be found for more reasonable prices, I highly recommend getting one.

  • Best processor I have purchased

Having 8 cores and good future upgrade paths is quite worth it. The processor itself has been stable when compiling software and is also good for virtualization. I managed to overclock it to 3.7GHz without instability or high temps on air cooling. Would definitely recommend this product.

  • One heck of a deal on a i7-5960x

I’ve been waiting years to buy one of these i7-5960x the original price of $1,499.00 was way out of my budget but give it a few years and you can throw together a $6,000 water cooled machine for a fraction of the price and still be in the 98% percentile fast gaming pc’s with 4K capabilities that can play any game available.
