    Modest price, very good performance!

I purchased this TEAC model to replace an ageing B&O 7700 which was getting to be a time consuming and expensive item to keep working. I decided on the TEAC LP-R550USB because Hammacher Schlemmer sells it and they don't sell junk. I beat their price & overall cost by shopping eBay. I have everything at home to record music to a CD using my PC but this TEAC unit combines everything into one easy to use device. The audio output is fine for ordinary listening but I do have a pair of HeathKit speakers which need more output power than the TEAC possess so i added a PYLE power amp (also bought on eBay) and can now rattle the windows. I recommend this unit.

  • Most critical review

Recording an LP to a CD not that easy.

Yesterday, I finally had a chance to record/transcribe a vinyl LP to a CD-R. It didn't go well. I will have to give it one more try -- but the whole assigning "Track" nos thing was very confusing and NOT clear in the instructions. I hopeI don't waste any more CDs.

  • TEAC CD recorder

Easy to record CDs from Vinyl or cassette tape. Having done this using a computer for years, I finally got fed up with the cryptic instructions, cords, etc. On this you can simply pause and go on to a diferent track or a different record. If you wish to record the entire record it will break songs into tracks automatically....unless there is a one or 2 seconds of silence. So it is not fool proof. The turn table is ok, but I use my older one and attach the output from the amplifier to the TEAC, as it is better quality. The TEAC one works just fine though. This does not quite work as easily as recording on to a tape, like in the old days. Once a track or section is recorded on to a CD it cannot be re-recorded.

  • It's great!

We are thrilled with our turntable. I give it 4 stars, however, because the tape player does not work. We have another device that will take of that, though, so it's not a big deal but it is disappointing. Love the record player (sorry, TURNTABLE). As I said, the sound is fantastic and we look forward to playing it more as we get more records in.

  • Best bang for the buck but i like better sound

but if I felt it needed a 100 amp Pyle Amplifier with a pair of dual Speaker Rockville's 10" Bass speakers Plus Tweeters which all cost me about $200 more. But listen to yours & you may like it as is. I would like it better if it had a bit more than 10 watts amperage, maybe 50 watts & be able to separate the speakers. I bought the wood grain which looks much better than the all black.

This unit has lots of good features and is easy to use Sound quality is good for the small speakers it has ..It can also be run through amplifier via AV out provision to obtain a better sound .Fantastic device for archiving your vinyl to cds ..Overall.. an excellent product for the money

  • Great Machine

This unit will record 45's, 33 1/3s, and cassette tape to CD's. It is fairly easy to use IF you read the directions and keep them by your side for reference the first few times you use the machine. The procedure is slightly different for each medium. Hey, I've had my machine less than a week and most of my music library is already converted.

  • Is doing a good job, especially considering the price paid.

I've transferred about 20 cassette tapes to CD so far, and it is still working good, making good sounding playable copies. The unit itself does not have great sound quality, but works fine for monitoring while recording.

  • Good little unit

The sound quality is better than I expected. All the components work well. The only problem I've had is on two occasions the recorder stopped recording before it should have and a few times the play/pause button didn't work right away.
