Perfect scope for an 1895 Marlin
I was a little concerned about the reticle because it is so different than anything I have ever used in a lifetime of hunting. Upon receiving and mounting the scope on a Model 1895 Marlin 45/70, I realize that I chose the perfect scope for this rifle. What's not to like?
The title of my review says it all. Mechanically and optically, this scope has everything I need in a 1-6x: clear glass, illuminated BDC reticle, comfortable eye relief and even a spare battery inside the windage cap. And to top off the great looking design, the seller had it at a much better price point than I've seen on any other website. Have this on one of my AR setups and WOW. I have had scopes from several different brands and this scope is VERY impressive! Especially for the price! Really looking forward to putting it through it's first few hunts. At the range with a Burris PEPR mount it's dead on! Holds zero very well, even when bumping around in a pickup and it's incredibly clear. My father in law and his brother were both with me the first time I shot with the scope and were both very impressed and they use high end Nikon scopes on most of their rifles. very happy customer here. Looking forward to seeing their 1-8 version.

Great AR-15 scope - even for a couple novices
My son and I just took up rifle shooting with a Ruger AR-556. I love the view through the scope, and I can now see that 6x will be enough (barely) for 200 yard targets, our current maximum range. At 100 yards and up, we now use a bipod. The 1x or 2x setting should be good for offhand indoor range (25 yards max) shooting, so it looks like a versatile scope, just as Vortex claimed it would be. Great Bang for the Buck !
To make a scope in this power range at this price point requires some corners to be cut. I could "nit pick" this scope all day, but in the end it really has no competition at this price. The glass is good, as are the adjustments and the overall "look" is quality. I do wish the reticle illumination was brighter at the high setting for use in day light, but many scopes costing two to three times as much have the same problem. Waited a long time and looked through a ton of options before finally going with the strike eagle, and man am I glad I did. Excellent clarity!
My son bought one and after we went out for sighting it in, I decided to buy one. It is very well made and easy to adjust. The glass is clear and easy to focus. I live this scope. Vortex is one of the best in the optics game so I was glad to get this at such a good price. It works great and hasn't messed up so far with almost 1000 rounds through my ar. Great value
What a nice scope. Illuminated reticle works great on or off. Magnifying power is easy and smooth. Optics are very good quality and you would have to spend 2 Xs to get better glass. Good light with relatively small obs lens. 1X works almost like aimdot. At 2X you cant even see front post (on AR). 1-6X is great power, better than having 1-4X and on a AR platform you don’t want a 3-9X.
