    Easy to use, good result

Simple, easy to follow instructions, perfect results. Really pleased with the way my garment turned out, colour is rich and even, does not look like a home dye job! Very easy to use.

Don't waste your money on Dylon Pre-Dye

Figured I may as well take 2 secs to warn others. Well, I bought it and tried it on a light blue pair of jeans and a denim jacket the same colour. The pack says it can handle a lot more than just those two items, but I whacked it all in anyway as it also says you shouldn't be saving any once the packet is opened. The result was they came out looking exactly the same as when they went in: no colour removed. I think if you are using their dyes then you have to be realistic about what can be achieved. Light blue to a darker blue is easy but light blue to a mid brown for example is much more challenging. For me, having been through a few of the dyes I would say only bother with them if the thing you want to dye is a) the right kind of fabric and b) white or similar e.g. cream. As I say though, you can easily turn knackered faded blue denim into a fuller deeper darker shade and if this is your aim then all you will need for that is the dye, and not this waste of time, which in my experience at least, is a product needed by nobody, ever.

  • This item did not work for me.

I bought this item to try and strip a dark green colour off a jacket in order to re- dye it with a lighter colour. I find dark colour jackets maintain heat on your body during hot weather. This was done in a large pan of simmering water over a stove for around 30 minutes as mentioned on one of the internet webs. What actually happened was the hot water turned black and after drying the jacket the `Dylon` had actually stripped the nickel plating off the metal zip changing it to almost bronze colour. I knew I might have to at least buy another packet of this item to get ALL the colour out of the jacket but on this first attempt it took very little out just turning it to a dull colour green. It was not the result I was expecting.

  • Very disappointing result as no colour change at all.

I dyed some cotton bath mats yellow a couple of months ago but the yellow was far too bright and intense. I naturally assumed that Dylon Pre Dye would take the colour back to perhaps a very pale yellow. I followed all the instructions to the letter but the 2 items came out of the washing machine at the end of the cycle and the bright yellow colour I was hoping to 'remove/lessen' had not changed at all.

  • Not what it used to be

If you are not taking out strong colours such as red/orange, some blues/greens etc., it works fine but this new version of the old Dyegon does not work half as well as the old in my opinion. It does not take the colour back to neutral as it used to but if re-dying with a strong colour you still get a good result with that.

  • Waste of money

This product did absolutely nothing to my jeans at all, I had a project I was trying to do and I meticulously followed the instructions, to my surprise I removed the clothes from the machine and not even the slightest change to the colour. I have used this in the past and had no issues at all. Butnot this time...

  • Fab

I wasn’t sure if one packet would be enough. The product is brilliant. I treated 3 bath sheets and 1 hand towel. The colour change was from aqua blue and ended as a very pale green. The green was nice enough to just dry and use as. But I’d already bought Dylon dye, I had bleach stains on the old towels, once treated- not a sign. Will definitely buy again.

  • Colour

I have used this colour before but it didn't seem to be as dark ( maybe too many clothes for one pack )

  • Great product

This pre dye was good at preparing my faded shorts. I did not was at the hottest temp. and instead used a lower temperature as I didn't want to ruin my cotton shorts but, pre dyed them twice at a lower temperature. When I then used the dye it was nice and even and much better than I had hoped. A new lease of life for my shorts!

  • Colour remover

It worked well on removing the colour from the garment but seemed expensive for a one off treatment.
