MSI Z97 Gaming - 5 need I really say more...
MSI makes awesome Motherboards and have been doing so for decades, over 3 decades since they got their start in 1986. I've been using their boards off and on over the decades and they have always been one of the top contenders in MB builds. They care about what the end user wants and needs and are not afraid to take the lead in design and innovation. They care about their product unlike many fly by night vendors that swoop in for the quick buck than close shop, MSI is here to STAY. Years ago BRAND NAME did not really matter much because the industry was new and a few vendors were trying to make a name for themselves. MSI has a solid reputation as will be one of the best PC vendors for decades to come. Sure other vendors specialize in Video Cards or PC Devices but MSI has you covered for almost all of your PC needs. This MB in particular is easy to set up and looks great from any viewing angle. MSI takes a more subtle approach to MB Design unlike other vendors that use Gaudy Colors or tries to use multiple colors for BLING EFFECT and I just don't care for that in a MB. Two colors, Base Black and subtle Red is all this board offer's and the hint of Red is just enough to allow it to SHINE. Combine this MB with other MSI Products and the consistency in Colors is just outstanding. If you seek a particular theme MSI has your back. If you want to MOD the Colors it's easy to do because of how few parts you'd have to MOD to change the entire theme or design. Most MSI MB's come with the latest and greatest PC features and this board is no exception. This MB offers everything you need to Over Clock, or OC, or just lay back and enjoy a wonderful PC Experience. The build quality of MSI Boards is by far among the best in the business. I've been working with computers since 1986 myself and my first PC was a Tandy 1000 and I would not be surprised if they used MSI for their board. Granted the Z97 chipset is older but it is not out dated by any stretch of the imagination. Skylake does not offer much in the way of a performance boost over this Devil's Canyon era MB. Sure Skylake is an improvement if you want to drop 10 Cents off your electric bill over a year or you want to pick up an extra 5 FPS in Gaming but the additional cost is not worth jumping to Skylake. If you run an old Pentium than it's time to upgrade and you should probably go Skylake over Devil's Canyon. If you own Devil's Canyon don't jump to Skylake, you won't see much of a difference. LGA 1150 CPU's are still in the Top 50 list of CPU's as are Skylake, LGA 1151. How a single pin can make such a difference is beyond me. MSI MB's are here to stay. Got it.
Received product on time and well packaged. However, it seems it may have just been repackaged and sent to me as "certified refurbished". The top side of the i/o is slightly bent. Great, Expandable Board!
I've had this Mobo for years and when I thought that my MOBO had died, I bought this one to replace it. It's not the latest and Greatest, but it has Lots of expandability. Fact is, my original MOBO is still work and now faster and better than before (it was the Power Supply that quit). I'm running an i5 3.5 and with the new water cooler... quiet and fast. Good but one problem
It works good but has an issue with the USB ports I can't charge my phone properly on the front USB 3.0 it keeps starting then stoping the starting then stopping it's rather annoying but it works fine on the back ports so idk I guess my phone doesn't like the board or the board don't like it maybe it's a case issue haven't narrowed it down yet but overall great boardVerified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
