On his journey, Luke is aided by the roguish, sarcastic mercenary Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and his towering furry sidekick Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) as they run into a host of perilous situations while trying to rescue the princess - and the entire galaxy. Considered the most morally and emotionally complex of the original Star Wars trilogy, THE EMPIRE STRIKE BACK continues creator George Lucas's epic saga where STAR WARS left off. The third and final chapter in the wondrous STAR WARS saga is RETURN OF THE JEDI. Luke (Mark Hamill) must save Han Solo (Harrison Ford) from the clutches of the monstrous Jabba the Hut, and bring down the reconstructed - and even more powerful - Death Star. With Solo imprisoned, Luke accompanies his faithful droids R2D2 (Kenny Baker) and C3PO (Anthony Daniels) in a rescue bid, with Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) also lending a hand. After they valiantly disentangle their friends from Jabba's clutches, Luke returns to his Jedi Knight training with Yoda. Meanwhile, the Rebel Troops amass in an attempt to see off the impending threat from Darth Vader (played by David Prowse, voiced by James Earl Jones) and his Death Star, with the operation being lead by Han Solo. Star Wars 1-6 Blu-ray is Awesome
The Star Wars movies on Blu-ray are awesome especially Episodes 4-6. They tell an amazing story, and they keep you engaged. I had seen them on DVD and thought they were pretty cool, but to see it in high definition is really something else. I do notice somethings like the lightsabers still look the same as they did on the DVD, but they look somewhat better. I also thought with this set we would see some special features. But if your not a big special features person, and just want the movies this is totally worth it. Still I am glad I bought them, for now. Hopefully when the next three episodes come out I will sell this set to a 20th Century Fox Fan and get the full boxed set from Walt Disney.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

It's Star Wars. It's great.
The picture and sound on these blu rays are spectacular. I'm 47 and saw the Star Wars films in the theater (several times) at the ages of 7, 10 & 13. I count myself among the fans that want the original versions of the Trilogy made available in blu ray. Bootlegs aside, I doubt this will happen anytime soon. Again these discs look and sound great and the price couldn't be beat. I've had VHS, DVD and now BLU-RAY copies of the Star Wars Trilogy. I am a fan.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Looks better than my LDs (Laser Discs)!
Good quality, brand new. These were re-editied with some extras which are not on the original LDs. I would have preferred the original edits, but I'm very happy with the clean quality! If I can find my LD player, (which is somewhere in the garage), I might one day play them again to compare. BTW, all of my LDs are currently framed in 12" album picture frames and hung among the walls in my home theater... at least for now. Classic trilogy that defines the genre
I'm not going to waste time reviewing the movies other than to point out they stand the test of time and define the classic hero's quest tale in the film medium. Star Wars Trilogy (BD/DVD) 2013 Edition
Millions of words have been written about this trilogy and I don't have anything new to add. As for the combo itself these are the "Special Edition" versions duplicated on both blu-ray and DVD. The quality of both picture and sound is topnotch for all 3 movies and I'm sure that any fan will be pleased. I deducted one star because the Original Versions weren't included....not even on the DVDs. But if your looking for those versions I suggest that you buy the DVD Saga box set of episodes 1 - 6 and that is where you'll find them. You won't get them in blu-ray quality or anamorphic widescreen but they ARE in widescreen with 2-channel Dolby Stereo.....just like they were in the theaters so long ago. Just put the disc in and let your pro-logic decoder do the rest. Star Wars movies are everywhere on eBay so it doesn't make a lot of sense to keep paying retail anymore. Get your trilogy as cheap as you can because someday they will release them all in 4K and you'll get to buy them again!! Yay.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Hi. This is a box set of the REAL actual first 3 Star wars movies. Good luck to you if you enjoyed all the films that followed. I had a Star wars episodes 4-6 DVD box set that featured the original releases and original artwork. In this box set, you get Blu-ray or DVD of those 1997 revamped versions. Ok....well I tossed out the DVD's and put in the original theatrical release DVD's from my old box set into this one. Now....why no special features at all Mr. Lucas? They had room in this box set for a 7th disc that I'm sure they could pack hours of bonus stuff onto. Nope...I get to look that up online. or buy them separate. Whatever.
