Hotpoint Bearings
The product itself i cannot fault. I could only use two bearings but not the water seal as not the correct one for my washing machine. I was expecting this as serial number of my machine was not there, so the hole was too small for the shaft,? All of the bearings ( and the one i could not use) were very good quailty and have been fitted to the machine and is back to being very quiet on 1600 spin. Bearings not fit for purpose!
I bought this bearing kit on the understanding that it was labelled as an OE quality repair kit. I was fitting them in place of an NIS branded bearing set which were still running smoothly after 15 years of use. I was carrying out unrelated work and while dismantled thought I would replace the bearings again to future proof the machine. Big mistake! First thing to note is that the 6207 size bearing is a single rubber seal rather than the two rubber seals fitted originally. Therefore this bearing is the wrong type and not that of the original specification. Step forward to the job being completed in December 2020, without any problems nor damage caused on installation of the bearing kit. Within a few months the bearings began to rumble, becoming rapidly louder and louder until it was quite clear that they had failed. This was after light domestic use. By August 2021 I made the seller aware and agreed to return the kit for a refund. Having purchased a set of SKF brand replacements I set about doing the job all over again. Those of you who have replaced washing machine bearings will know that this is a time consuming job and to pay a professional would be very costly. When I removed the bearings subject of my review I found they were severely deteriorated both being very rough to operate and heavily corroded. The single seal is so poorly designed that daylight is visible between it and the inner race. After looking into the subject of bearing engineering it has become clear that all bearings are not the same in quality. From my point of view and personal experience I can honestly state that these bearings must be the poorest quality construction available. I am competent and experienced in most mechanical repair tasks and there were no other issues with this installation other than the poor quality of the bearing kit supplied. I would be most surprised if others have not had exactly the same experience as myself. I do not normally write reviews but feel strongly that supplying this substandard rubbish needs to be challenged. If I can help others to avoid the same bad experience that I have had then all the better. To the seller, please take responsibility for the quality of the spares you are selling.
