The ultimate collector s item for fans of the epic fantasy series that inspired HBO s "Game of Thrones" a boxed set featuring gorgeous leather-cloth-bound editions of the first five novels! An immersive entertainment experience unlike any other, A Song of Ice and Fire has earned George R. R. Martin dubbed the American Tolkien by "Time" magazine international acclaim and millions of loyal readers. Now the monumental saga gets the royal treatment it deserves, with each book wrapped in bound leather-cloth covers and packaged together in an elegant display case. This one-of-a-kind boxed set includes: A GAME OF THRONES A CLASH OF KINGS A STORM OF SWORDS A FEAST FOR CROWS A DANCE WITH DRAGONS One of the best series in the history of fantasy. "Los Angeles Times" "" Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King s Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert s name. There his family dwells in peace and comfort: his proud wife, Catelyn; his sons Robb, Brandon, and Rickon; his daughters Sansa and Arya; and his bastard son, Jon Snow. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances. Now Robert is riding north to Winterfell, bringing his queen, the lovely but cold Cersei, his son, the cruel, vainglorious Prince Joffrey, and the queen s brothers Jaime and Tyrion of the powerful and wealthy House Lannister the first a swordsman without equal, the second a dwarf whose stunted stature belies a brilliant mind. All are heading for Winterfell and a fateful encounter that will change the course of kingdoms. Meanwhile, across the Narrow Sea, Prince Viserys, heir of the fallen House Targaryen, which once ruled all of Westeros, schemes to reclaim the throne with an army of barbarian Dothraki whose loyalty he will purchase in the only coin left to him: his beautiful yet innocent sister, Daenerys. A Song of Ice and Fire bookset

I just received this set from an auction. It was new and factory sealed at a substantially discounted price. The only thing that may have kept it off a big store bookshelf, if even worth mentioning, was that one book was placed upside-down. The book case is the same material that was used for the book covers, which is a textured man-made material. Although the description says leather-cloth, It feels a bit like a textured rubber over a flexible, pressed-paper binding. The books measure roughly 6 1/8th x 4 1/2" or 15.5 x 12 cm. The outside cover and spine are embossed with the title surrounded by a scrolled border and the G.R.R.M author icon shown in the images, The inside cover says it is a 2015 Special Boxed Bantam Edition. Inside the pages feel pretty thin, but the print is clear and dark. Artwork is included of two maps of the North and South realms before the first chapter and close up maps of each realm scattered throughout the books. Each chapter has a nice scroll design on the top of the pages. Apart from the title headings, the rest of the print is pretty small coming in at around 3/32" or about 2mm which is to be expected for content this large in books this size; I'll be using my glasses. At the back of the books are an appendix, an acknowledgements page and a page about the author. It's a nice set to have on a shelf for a reasonable price that won't take up too much room.

    Great books but...

These are great books with great stories!! The problem is the PRINT is way to small . I couldn't get passed the first page because my eyes began to cross from trying to read the VERY SMALL print!! The books covers we very unique and cool great for someone who is just looking to show them off AWFUL for someone who just wants to read them

  • :)

I was very satisfied with my purchase! The books are exactly like in the picture. I knew ahead of time that the books were small, yet I was still surprised by the size. Measurements should be available but just as a visual, they are about or an inch taller (in length) as an iPhone 6 Plus. My first thought is that they kind of look like bibles :P but overall still love the details in the books. With that said, writing is small too. The pages are not as thick as I would like them to be, but they are fitting to the size of book. Can't wait to finish series!!!!!! :)

  • Good buy

The books are kind of small like small bibles. Though small, they actually feel good in the hands as you read. The covers are soft to touch and make for an easy read. The collection of books look good together and dont take up too much space. I would recommend if you are a fan of the series. I have seen all episodes on HBO. I have just started reading first book and the show really does follow the books quite well. Highly recommend this set. Enjoy.

  • ATTRACTIVE, QUALITY BINDING

This collection is an attractive addition to my library. George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire will become a fantasy classic . My only complaint is that the print is small. This poses a challenge for people who have less then 20/20 vision.
