  • 300W of empty space not hot air.

This hot air gun does NOT have temperature monitoring. You set the temperature to say 400C and the display does not show the air flow temperature it constantly and ONLY shows the temperature you set. Adjusting the airflow speed radically changes the airflow temperature (measured using a K type temperature probe at a fixed distance). Opening up the unit shows a transformer the size of a postage stamp - which is why the base station has no weight. There is no way the transformer is 300W. .. 30W maybe... and no its not because its an efficent switch mode power supply it sends stepped down AC direct to the heating element... taking apart the handle there is no insulation between the heating unit and the plastic handle so the handle gets hot... - the overheat protection - is BEFORE the heating element... so it does not measure the hot air temperature it measures the plastic handle's temperature and and yes after a bit of use the handle gets very HOT and shuts down with a EE2 error message! If you are going to get a hot air station and do anything useful don't get this it is effectively no better than the all in one hot air "wand" with no base station... but costs much more
