PRACTICAL
A great practical item for our glass milk bottles. It’s easy to fit and remove and the sliding pourer has also continued to work without issue. Well worth buying a couple of these if you have your milk delivered in glass bottles. I’ve not tested it properly for leakage but I have carried a bottle of milk in my rucksack with a cling film wrap over the bottle top and then with this plastic lid clipped over it, I didn’t have any problems BUT that’s not really the purpose of the item anyway! It makes the milk easy to pour and keeps it fresh. SUGGESTION: We have semi skimmed and full fat milk delivered...... with the foil lid removed you can’t tell the difference by the bottles. We’ve tried writing Full / Semi on these lids in permanent marker but it rubs off! Please make RED / GREEN / BLUE coloured tops too!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Work OK, but only last about 6 months!
I bought 2 of these in May 2021 through eBay. They do work, however, they can be hard to get on, the plastic doesn't give as much as I would like and milk bottles must have a tolerance across the top! After a while, the original ones split a bit under the sliding cover at the back. I expect these one will too at some point. Then you get a dribble down the outside of the bottle; no one likes a dribble! So make sure you buy the cheapest ones you can find! These ones are the same so far, hope they last at least the same 6-7 months or more as the last ones!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

So good, I bought more of them
First - this type of bottle topper is not intended to be used on the plastic milk jugs as bought in the supermarket. They won't fit; they're not intended to fit. These tops are intended for glass milk bottles. As delivered by a good old-fashioned milkman(woman) or from the farm gate. If you're looking for something to go on top of your supermarket milk jugs, these items will not do what you want. Just wanted to clear that up as I see this item gets marked down for this when it's not the item's fault. This is the second time I've purchased these - they're not expensive so I was happy to buy more having had time to test the first 2 I bought. They're made of a flexible plastic that mostly fits snugly on top of a glass milk bottle which enables one to pour from a full milk bottle without spilling milk over the work surface. They aren't a 100% fit which is why I've marked them down by 1 star (because I didn't have the option of dropping half a star). Because of the way they're designed, when one pours the milk and then put the bottle back in the fridge, a small amount of milk runs down the cover and drips out the back. Which then leaves a mess on the door shelf. However this can be mitigated by placing a bit of kitchen paper on the shelf to soak up the drips. Apart from that - they're dishwasher safe (top shelf); which is why I now have several of them so I have enough to keep me going between dishwasher loads and are a huge improvement on trying to keep the foil top on the bottle for 2 or 3 days, which as we all know is virtually impossible.

Much better than a manky foil top
Having recently gone back to having my milk delivered in glass bottles, I discovered that the dumpy bottles don't pour very well when full. I also found that trying to preserve the foil top until the bottle was empty was impossible, so I went on a hunt for a glass bottle alternative to the 'milk toppers' I used with my plastic milk jugs. And these were the only thing that came up that were remotely useful. They do have a downside, which is why I rated them 'good' and not 'excellent' and that is that they do tend to drip a little - but I can deal with that by placing some kitchen towel under the bottle in the fridge so I'm not always having to mop up stale milk. As for the rest of my review? Well, these are certainly good value for money. They fit tightly on the bottle and when I'm using one of these, I don't spill any milk when pouring (I think the drip comes from the milk draining back from the spout and a small amount of milk runs to the back of the cap and leaks out the small gap). They are a little difficult to prise off the bottle when I'm done, but better that than them falling off too easily. And they don't seem to be suffering any ill effects from being washed in the dishwasher. I originally bought 2 of these to test them out, but I'm so pleased with them that I'm going to buy a couple more so I have enough to keep me going between dishwasher loads.

Good but need to be careful.
For the record, these fit a UK standard milk bottle perfectly so that's not a problem. They also pour nicely and the open / close mechanism is fine. However they are not completely water-tight at the back. Therefore if you put them in a fridge door that gets slammed the milk can splatter out the back, especially when the bottle is near full. Solution is put them somewhere that doesn't get slammed, or close the fridge door carefully. I've rated "Good Quality" but that's with the knowledge they need to be handled with care for the reasons above.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Flimsy but works most of the time.
This is a very flimsy product which has to be handled carefully particularly when being washed. It does the job most of the time but occassionally allows a few drops of milk to spill. Good seal, good pour.
I have recently bought some glass milk bottles to use for nostalgia sake and wanted to cap them whilst in the fridge. I have read many reviews on these caps and found that many reviewers just didn't like them saying things like "they didn't seal on their 4 pint plastic Asda milk bottles". Many did like them, as I do. It is very clear in the item description that these caps are for reusable bottles i.e. the glass ones that we used to have delivered to our doorsteps; in fact, some people still do. They are not meant for any supermarket plastic bottles. I have found that these caps snap on to the milk bottles perfectly and form a very tight seal. The sliding cover within the cap may seem a bit flimsy but, if handled carefully, should last as long as the cap itself. They also pour beautifully! Lightweight and leak proof
Due to a mix up, my delivery took longer than expected but the wait was worth it. The caps are lightweight and fit the bottles well. The only reason for giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the caps are only available in white, rather than blue and red to indicate whole and semi skimmed milk.
