The Stradivarius of sound collage and making beats that bang
I took the flash cards out of my E-mu samplers from the last 5 years of beat making, each sample taken from my record collection. From drum sounds to noises to breaks to samples to percussion etc.
Anyway I know this is boring but the all of the drums/breaks/percussion/808/effects can all fit into 6 SP-404 MK2 projects! To those that don't know it's like shoving like 50 VCR sized boxes into one DVD player sized box. lol
For an old head this machine is superb for sample based sound collage. The effects add instant BANG, (not to be confused with the notorious Beat Thang, which added instant 'BLANG')
Easy sample recording, chopping and management + Pad interface + Waveform display + Illmatic effects. Haven't tried the sequencer yet but for now enjoying the new method of working only with wavs and resampling. Takes me right back to the 80's when I was a kid : )
I will say though I had to really adjust the velocity to get the pads to play loud enough and now the pads are not as responsive as I would like. I'm not a fan of using fixed velocity but that is an option too and for some reason even louder than any setting I could use with velocity not fixed. I wish they would bring the volume of the pads up when using the factory velocity settings.
