Funny, different, silly, highly entertaining; nothing else quite like it
I loved this show on ABC and am very glad to have it on DVD to watch whenever I want. It's completely different than anything else on TV and very entertaining and downright funny. The musical numbers are great, the characters are memorable, and it's just plain fun to watch. There's some "Monty Python"-like silliness involved (I'm a big Python fan) and it's impossible to just watch a couple minutes... you're compelled to watch the entire series. When it was on TV, I was happy that each episode was only 30 minutes because it kept things moving along at a great pace. There were only 8 episodes each season so the entire run of the show was a mere 8 hours but they sure packed a lot into those hours. If you want to watch something entertaining, funny, well-acted, and fast-paced that has great music and dialogue or if you're just in the mood for something "completely different" (a Python phrase), "Galavant" will most definitely fill the bill. I watched it all the way through in one sitting and I'm planning to watch it again this weekend. Enjoy a Knight in
Alan Menken's name alone is enough to sell this engaging series to anyone who loves musicals. The 20 odd minute episodes follow swiftly on each other and it is amazing this has got so little eposure this side of the Atlantic. It has been described as being in the Spamalot corner and that is as good a description as any. However it is a more gentle humour and all the better for that. As you go through the DVDs the guest stars enliven an already superb product. No hesitation in recommending this and can only hope it makes it to UK TV at some stage. A Real Gem
Overall I enjoyed this series immensely, having watched it twice, and planning on watching it again in the near future. In a word, GREAT!!!
I absolutely LOVE this show! Galavant is a musical comedy set in the medieval time of knights and kings. Everything about it is terrific. Casting, acting, sets, dialing, and songs, are all top notch.
