Superb mechanism.
Superb mechanism. At first I tried an Amtech set of punches that you hit with a hammer, but they did not work at all. So, I took a chance on this and was surprised at how good it was. It cuts clean holes through Four layers of upholstery fabric. The design is excellent, it works with a smooth action and is easy to use. I've punched out about a hundred holes in multiple layers of fabric and it's still going strong. It probably won't need sharpening for quite some time, and when it does, it has a sharpener included. I use a piece of corrugated cardboard under the material, otherwise the punches cut into the metal stop, it's that sharp and powerful. This useful tool is solid and dependable. I hope they bring one out with a set of larger holes. I have one with larger size punches but it's hard to use because it doesn't have the superb inbuilt leverage mechanism that this one has. Hole Punch Review
A good hole punch, I have been using it on fabric with no problems cutting through it cleanly. Feels sturdy too. Nice that this comes with accessories and the brass&rubber pads. Minimum hole size is around 3.5mm so I will look for another punch for smaller jobs. The main disadvantage to this design are the plastic/rubber grips which have uncomfortable stippling although this can be sliced off with a sharp knife.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good value tool. Many of these for sale on the Web are not particularly strongly made and bend easily in use. This does not. Bought to use on a variety of application. Should last well. Pros Well made and a variety of holes can be selected. Extra striker plates supplied and tools to enable changes. Soft touch grips. An Efficient and Comfortable Leather Punching Tool
I bought this tool as I make a few leather items such as dog collars and leads. The tool comes with a small phillips screwdriver and two spare pressure pads. This punch is comfortable to use and with the added 'mechanical advantage' effect claimed by the makers gives a good clean cut with little effort. The range of hole sizes and shapes is limited, but you can only get so many shapes on a single rotating head. Two oval holes, three circular of differing sizes and a hole shape which defies my vocabulary, sort of an elongated squashed oval. Certainly a lot more comfortable to use than my previous pliers with the padded hand grips. The holes I've cut up to now are all good clean cuts with no ripping or coarse edges. The makers suggest using a backing pad when cutting to prolong the life of the cutting edges and this is a practice I would encourage. I have only used this tool on leather up to 7m/m thickness up to now, but would happily use it up to 8 or 9m/m. with every confidence.
